Jason's POV
My stomach twisted in my knot, the sudden reality of my life hitting me. It was officially over between me and Mabel. Moving closer, I clung unto the metal railings of my private plane as I climbed up into it. The name 'Royal Sky' was imprinted boldly on both sides of the plane in a shade of blue, contrasting with the white shade of the plane. I was flying to Vegas for an important business meeting. My luggage was packed in a suitcase that I dragged along, my laptop in a bag slinked over my arm.
First thing I saw was a man in uniform, almost blocking my way. The pilot greeted me with a bow, his cap in one hand. Casting a glance at him, I bobbed my head to acknowledge his greeting. Chisom collected the suitcase which I released from my grip.
"Are we ready to move Femi?" I demanded, moving further into the plane.
A simple brown marble table surrounded by two comfortable leather seats, just next to the porthole, provided a working area for me. One on the left, the other on the right. The ceiling above was a light shade of brown, designed with white stripes.
"Yes sir." He started heading towards the cockpit. "We'll leave in ten minutes." He closed the door and I got a peek into the room, his assistant pilot was sipping a cup of steaming coffee.
With a nod, I turned to the pristine mahogany door painted a dark shade of brown. Placing my thumb on the sensor, the doors opened to reveal the living room. I love being here, because it was the one place in the world where I didn't have to worry about anything, I didn't even have to work. A sink under a counter with a shade of dark grey cupboard, sofas to match and colourful pillows, coffee brown fluffy table rug and a wooden centerpiece table with glass table top. By the end of the room, against the pristine coffee brown marble wall was a Led Tv, shelves housing flower vases, scented candles and artifacts. Above me, the ceiling was clear, allowing me to gaze out at the sky above.
Heading back into the other room, I sat by my right next to the window. The leather seat was comfortable and warm. I knew I was going to work throughout the flight. If Mabel was here, she'd probably be seated next to me wearing one of those cozy sweaters and baggy juggers....I killed the thoughts immediately. Tossing my laptop bag on the seat next to me, I sighed deeply.
Chisom entered. She had a warm burst of smile on her face. I loved having her around, really. Usually, my secretary, Janet would have come with me but I wanted to be strictly alone.
Again, glancing at my wristwatch I realized we had a few more minutes before the plane takes off into the air.
"Would you like anything sir?"
Great way to be reminded that I actually left the house before sunrise and barely grabbed a toast to munch on! My mum was still going to roast me. I looked up through my lashes at the second hostess. In contrast to Chisom, she was dark and thin, not endowed in any way. She had her arms placed over her body, one hand over the other. Her smile was blazing, shoulders tight. I wasn't familiar with her at all, she was definitely trying to impress me.
Noticing my uneasiness, Chisom whispered into her ears and the smile on the thin hostess' face wore off before she gave me a bow and left. "I'm so sorry sir." I waved a hand dismissively. "This is her first time flying with you, Tope was just trying to do her job. I'll get your usual sir," She smiled confidently. "Black without sugar." I smiled when she elaborated. Chisom knew me too well.
In a short span of time, she returned. Placing a steaming cup of coffee on the small table in front of me, she flashed me a smile before excusing herself. The pilots voice rang through the plane, announcing our takeoff. Immediately, I fastened my seatbelt, watching the door of the plane close.
