Sendoh's POV

"Remember, team... What is our goal?!" Coach Taoka's commanding voice echoed throughout the gym the moment the team's meeting was adjourned, and my teammates answered in loud, rapid succession, hands fisted,

"THE NATIONALS!!"

Uozumi's voice drowned out my other teammate's voices, so I chuckled.

"Se---Sendoh!!!" Uozumi turned to me, clearly self-conscious, so I waved a hand, saying,

"Maa, maa, Uozumi-san." I clapped a hand behind his back, "It's nice to see everyone's hardwork..."

Surprisingly my words were able to wash down their boisterousness and they looked at me with gleaming eyes. My teammates can become unrestrained sometimes, and I'm glad everyone's set sail for one clear goal.

We definitely have a chance this year.

"....And, by the way, Uozumi-san, you kinda sounded like Akagi-san when you shouted NATIONALS!!! a while ago..."

After I said that, the whole team, except for Hikoichi, entered a fit of laughs that resonated around us. Hikoichi was pursing his lips to hold in his laughter.

I glanced at Coach Taoka, and he heaved a sigh.

When I turned to Hikoichi again, he bursted out in laughter, holding his stomach.

"Bo...Boss Monkey...." Hikoichi immediately clasped a hand before his mouth, regretting he said the words out loud.

Captain Uozumi was quick to catch up on those words, remembering Sakuragi's voice (who was the only one who called and teased him that way), and he walked to Hikoichi's direction, ready to reprimand him.

Hikoichi ran away, reaching the other end of the gym in just mere seconds, putting both hands on his head, as if to protect it from an impending head smack,

"Waaahhh!!! Uozumi-san, nooooo!!! Don't----"

"Run, run, Hikoichi! Zoom outta the gym!!!" Koshino said before roaring in laughter.

"Hey, Sendoh." Fukuda's voice made me look up from my phone.

Walking home as a group had been our team's habit lately. We've been doing this for weeks now. It's amazing how it bonded all of us, and it made us grow closer as a team.

We can get to share lots of ideas and thoughts as we walk-- how we imagine to dominate the games, how more strenuous Coach Taoka's drill and practices are--- there's a lot more and we never run out of things to talk about.

I was typing a text message to update Ayane, but I didn't get the chance to send it. I slid my phone inside my pant's pocket to listen to what Fukuda had to say.
