Sendoh's POV

Was Chiyoko there all this time?

Was she following me?

Was she listening to the conversation?

"Chiyoko, are you following me?"

"Eh?"

"Uhm..."

"No, Sendoh-kun! We're neighbors now, remember?!

"Oh.... sorry, I forgot."

Well, this is awkward.

When she started searching her pockets for her key, my stomach growled.

Way to make this even more awkward.

Chiyoko giggled, "It's late already, Sendoh-kun. You haven't eaten yet, have you?"

Her door opens.

"You can eat with me!"

"I...uh... thank you but I'll just have food delivered."

"Oh, please. I insist!!"

Last thing I know she took my hand, dragging me inside her room.

"Be comfortable, Sendoh-kun. I'll just reheat the food I cooked this morning." She says as she glided across the room to her kitchen.

I leaned my back on the wall.

"You can sit, Sendoh-kun. You just can't stand inside my room."

"Well...okay if you say so."

While she was still at the kitchen, I sat on the couch. There were still a couple of boxes on the floor which meant she still wasn't done unpacking.

Several minutes later the room smelled like curry. I looked over my shoulder and she filled a bowl with rice.

"It's almost done, Sendoh-kun!"

"Ah, I'm sorry for bothering you..."

"No, no, it's my pleasure."

We started eating after that. She'll occasionally ask questions and tell stories as we ate. Thank God she's not bringing up that embarrassing thing she did in the hallway because if she did I have no idea what I'll do or say.

"You really cooked stew this morning?"

I know cooking it takes time and effort. From cooking the beef and chopping those.. those vegetables? Of course it'll take time. And stewing it. Stewing it takes time as well.

"Uh... yes! Since I live on my own I have to cook for myself. It's also one of the reasons why I was kinda late this morning." She placed her spoon down and she propped her chin on her hand. "Soooo, Sendoh-kun, how does it taste like?"

"It's a little salty--"

"oh"

"--but all in all, it still tastes good! Don't feel crestfallen."

"Next time if I cook it again, I'll make you taste it!"

"Well......"

"If we can't eat together like this again, I'll just knock into your door and give you food. I'll make you taste an improved recipe of my stew."

"Chiyoko, you just can't do that all the time though. I don't want to be rude, but you just can't, if you do it all the time it'll be suffocating."

"What if I want to?"

There's nothing that can stop this girl.

I sighed, crossing my arms.

"Whatever...." I said under my breath.

"Suffocating, Sendoh-kun? I think not! How about that girl with short chestnut brown hair from another school that always visit our campus? She always talk to you. You're not suffocated with her? What's her name?"

She's talking about Ayane, no doubt.

"Oh, you mean Ayane? No, no. I never feel that way towards her. She's special."

She deadpanned while I replied, having the least interest about how I talked about my girl.

"You look more handsome than you already are when your hair's down, Sendoh-kun." She says with a smirk.

I felt my consciousness slip away. I was taken aback I almost choked on the rice. Fazed, I crossed my arms.

"No I don't."

"Yes you do, Sendoh-kun!

"But my hair's on spikes now." I pointed at my hair, "See? Spikes."

She giggled.

"Yeah, but that one time when you helped me with my groceries on Christmas Eve, I was speechless, it was the first time I saw you with all your hair down and you just looked so good."

"I'm flattered."

I offered my help with washing the dishes since I didn't want to leave so suddenly after eating. She insisted that I stay more but I declined.

Not only I'm beat and I wanted to rest but I think she'll tell more stories and ask me more questions once I stayed.

I sent Ayane a good night text before I slept and she replied instantly after I sent my message.

The Day After

Ayane's POV

Alright.

Five minutes before seven in the evening.

My mom really cooked a lot, I think she was carried away. I was sitting on our living room's couch, reading a book.

Mom would've dearly loved to have a dinner at the garden but since it's chilly and snowy, she'll have to set it aside for another time, perhaps in spring. She said she even had the whole setting planned out.

A few minutes later, the doorbell rang.

"I'll go get it!"

I opened the gate for Sendoh and we talked just by the doorway before we came in.

"New shirt?" I jested.

"Yes, I bought one since this is a special night." He meekly smiled.

I fucking swear everytime Sendoh smiles I forget how to breathe.

"Really?" I coughed, trying to not get too excited, "I just thought that it's new since there's still a price tag."

"Oh, crap. Where? I'm sure I removed it a while ago."

I giggled, "I'm just messing with you."

Sendoh pouted.

"I see you bought.... is that... cake?"

"I didn't want to come here emptyhanded so aside from buying chocolate cake I also bought wine."

"You bought those? Oh, my parents will love it very much. That's sweet, Akira! Chocolate cake is my mom's favorite."

"Ayane, do I look good?"

"You always do."

He blushed. I meant it, I really did.

"I meant was... right now. Since I'm about to meet your parents."

I tried to assure him, "With your spiked hair and you smelling good and you...being like that? You're dashing. Always."
