Chapter Thirty-Six

Chapter 36:

I can't believe that it's Friday already, by the end of today I'll officially complete my first week at work. After my first day he has been quite normal boss to work with. He has helped me to accommodate to the role, overall it has been an good experience working with him. Apart from work we have been spending a lot of time together. We have breakfast and dinner together at home where we talk about anything and everything apart from work. I usually have my lunch with few colleagues I met on the first day Ranjit from HR, Khayati from Sales, Gayatri and the third girl I met in elevator which I later came to know is Kashish. Gayatri and Kashish both work in marketing department. They all have been nice and welcoming. I met few other employees Gaurav, Suresh and Mysha, Mysha is in HR and Suresh and Gaurav work under Khayati in sales. Kahayati was the only one to witness the drama in conference room the way I stood up against Abhimanyu. That was the topic of our discussion during lunch of my second day. She told me that she wanted me to invite me to have lunch with them on the first day itself but since Abhimanyu was agitated with the way I talked back to him she dropped the idea. But on second day she was on desk 5 minutes before lunch to invite me.

"With the way you stood your ground against the boss I knew you are going to stay here longer all his other assistant did.." she said once during lunch.

I can see her as my friend, she herself is someone who doesn't shy away from speaking her mind.

"Ishita, you are coming right?" Mysha's voice interrupted my thoughts.

"Um.. where?" I asked since I zoned out for most part of the conversation.

"We are planning to go to this newly launched restaurant two blocks from here." she replied

"Sure, I'm in"

"So, it's decided. We'll meet there at 9 after office."

Once the plan was made we all went back to our respective work.

"Ishita, can you come in?" I saw Abhimanyu's message on company's chat portal. The message was sent 5 minutes back. I quickly made my way to his office.

"So she makes you happy now?" I heard someone say. He sounded familiar. But I am more concerned about who he is talking about. Is Abhimanyu dating someone? But he can't do that not when we are still married.

"Shut up and why are you here? Don't you have work to do?" Abhimanyu replied irritantingly.

I knocked the door not wanting to evesdrop the conversion anymore. I heard come in instantly this time.

"You called?" I asked Abhimanyu and gave a glance to other person in the room. I don't think I have ever met him but he sounded familiar.

"Vedh wait for me outside." Abhimanyu says with his 'dare to disobey me' face.

So this is Vedh, the one I heard talking to Abhimanyu the first time I was here. I see him moving towards the door with a knowing smirk. Why is he smirking? Soon the door closes and I am left alone with Abhimanyu.

"Yes, we'll be leaving late today. I have meeting till 8 and than we can grab something to eat from this new restaurant near office." from the corner of my eyes I saw the other person snickering silently.

"Um... I have to leave early today. I have some plans" I say not caring to elaborate. He have someone who makes him happy so it's not like he'll care anyways.

"Plans with who?" he asked clearly upset.

"Someone" I don't budge.

"Ishita, don't test my patience"

I don't answer.

"You really like testing my patience don't you? Now tell me wifey, Is it a date?"

"Why do you care? I have plans with someone and just like you have someone who makes you happy"

"Oh, you heard our conversation, is that why you are being difficult?"

"I am not being difficult, I honestly have plans after work."

"I know that darling, but atleast tell me is it a date?"

"And my answer is why do you care? I am not answerable to you or anyone for that matter."

"Obviously you are not answerable to anyone. But I would still like to know who you are going with so that I can make sure you are safe." I jerk my head towards Abhimanyu so fast that I was surprised that I didn't suffer from whiplash. I move towards him and check touch his forehead to check his temperature.

Abhimanyu agreeing that I am not answerable to anyone and that he is asking just to make sure that I am safe. Hell must be freezing over for him to behave like this.

"Are you okay?"

"Yes I am, Why?" He asked all confused

"Do you have a twin who is polar opposite of you?"

"I don't have a twin. Where these questions coming from?"

"It doesn't make any sense"

"What doesn't make sense"

"You were a jerk and asshole just a few days back and now you are... well polar opposite of what you were. If few days back I would have said I have plans with someone the asshole you would have locked me in the house like you did last time and now not-asshole version of you just, it's confusing." He comes and stand next to me and titl my head up to see him.

"I am sorry for locking you that day. I was just angry and that doesn't excuse the way I behaved. But princess I couldn't figure out my rage than but I know now. And I promise I'll make it up to you." he speaks and his eyes convey that he means every single he said right now. He looks genuine.

"So you'll not be angry at me?"

"Oh baby, ofcourse I'll be angry but I'll not behave the way I did" he answered with a chuckle and tuck my hair beneath my ear making my heart flutter. And storked my cheek tenderl leaving tingling feeling. Just a slight touch and my whole body is on fire.

"Promise?" I asked in a whisper, leaning

"Promise" he continued "Now tell me who are you going with?"

"No I am not telling you. I want to test you on your promise." He laughed. Not a normal laugh but a full on titling head back laugh.

"Okay, than I'll have to think of something else to make sure you are safe. And you cannot blame me for whatever I do." He said with a smile.

"Just so you know it's not a date"

"That's all I want to know" He kissed my forehead.

I like this side of Abhimanyu but a part of me is scared of him leaving me after six months are over and other part of me is happy because than I'll not have to unleash the past I have kept hidden for 3 years.
