(A/n) I logged into Wattpad and was surprised to see that even though it's been a few years people still enjoy this book. I thought I'd add a little bit to it to thank everyone who's continued to read it after all this time. I hope you all enjoy it!
This book will be written towards a gender neutral reader.
(y/g): your gender
(Y/n) can hardly contain their excitement. In only two days, it would be time for the Astral's Festival. They've wanted to go their whole life, but it didn't seem like much more than a hollow dream.
It was a grand, grand festival held every five years to celebrate The Astrals' Passing, when striking comets would make their rounds through the sky, visible with the naked eye. It was said to be the day the Astrals bless everyone with their presence and remind them that they're there. It was a huge deal, and people would travel from across the world to Insomnia to see it from the spot it was most visible. It had rides, parades, shows, shops, it was endless. It was so big it even had its own traditions and superstitions.
The festival sprang up to take advantage of this, and tickets are impossible to get ahold of. Even in previous years, when they had somehow scrounged up enough money for them, they were never available. But they had all stayed up all night on the day the tickets went on sale, all refreshing endlessly as the timer ticked down, and somehow had all managed to snag a ticket just before they sold out in under 30 seconds. This year they finally wouldn't have to just squint and watch, barely seeing the comets from the roof of the diner.
(Y/n) has never been this impatient for something, every thought of theirs is consumed by the Festival; how they can't believe it's actually happening, what they will do at the Festival, what it will be like, and just daydreaming about spending the whole time with their best friends at the most anticipated event in the entire city. They felt like a kid dreaming of what their birthday gifts might be, every thought getting a little more fantastical than the last. They were probably blowing it a little out of proportion, but then again, how couldn't they? This was the Astrals' Festival. It was everything in Insomnia, hell, the world. (Y/n) lays back on the couch, legs crossed, their foot bouncing impatiently.
"Man, I can not wait, this is gonna be crazy," (Y/n) says, mostly to themself, enthusiasm lacing their voice as they scroll through another sensationalized news article (you know the ones, drenched in ads at every turn, with language like "you won't believe what's going on this year") listing all the events and attractions that will take place; an activity they've spent the greater part of most nights doing, never going long between mumblings of how amazing it'll be.
"You know the rollercoaster? I'm pretty sure it's gonna be the biggest they've ever had." Gladio's normally gruff voice letting out a hint of what just might've been the same excitement (y/n) was feeling. Judging by that gently hidden smirk as he crossed his legs, (y/n) was right. Ignis crosses his arms and rests them on the couch behind Noctis.
"They're also going to be preparing dishes from across the world. I'm excited to try them, although I don't think I'll be able to help be a bit inspired myself. Maybe I'll even-"
"Come up with a new recipe," the group all mockingly, monotonously repeats. Ignis smiles, having gotten exactly what he wanted. Ignis stares thoughtfully into the distance, already visualizing all of the food they might serve.
"What are you excited for, Noct?" Prompto asks, beaming excitedly at the man.
"You guys kind of said all the cool things already," Noctis laughs, but at Prompto's insistence, takes a moment to consider what else might be exciting. "I dunno, there's probably balloons. You like balloons, right, (y/n)?"
