(A/n) This is the AU that when you see your soulmate you see colors for the first time. Until then, everything is black and white. This oneshot will be taking place while Noctis and Prompto are still in high school.

Hello everyone! I'm so sorry that this isn't a request, but I'm trying to get myself to start writing again. I want the requests to be perfect, so since I haven't written anything in a while, I'm going to start with oneshots that aren't requests. I've recently been reading a lot of soulmate AUs so I thought about trying one out myself. Sorry if this oneshot isn't that great, I haven't written anything in over 7 months... Anyways, on to the story!

(Y/n)'s POV

Colors. Reflections of light that people spend their whole lives waiting to see. People describe colors as being "vibrant" and "beautiful". Not that I could relate.

You see, to be able to see these amazing colors, you have to meet your soulmate. Apparently, once you see your soulmate, and they see you, the world explodes with color, thousands of shades and hues lighting up the world.

Sadly though, I can't see colors. Not yet, anyways. I haven't met my soulmate yet, and to be quite frank, I'm getting kind of worried. I'm already in high school and I STILL haven't found my soulmate! Now, I know what you may be thinking, 'Oh (y/n), you're just being impatient! You have plenty of time to find your soulmate! You're only 15!' But you have to understand, this is my soulmate! It's the person I'm going to be spending the rest of my life with. The person who I'll love forever! Wouldn't you be a bit impatient to meet them?

Unfortunately, the realistic part of me knows that I more than likely won't meet my soulmate until I'm an adult. That's when most people meet their soulmates. I'm 15, I can't even drive on my own. I probably won't see my soulmate for a LONG time...

To be honest, compared to meeting my soulmate, seeing colors means nothing to me. I mean, yes I can't wait to see them, but what I really want is to find the person I'm going to spend the rest of my life with.

I'm interrupted from my thoughts as Noctis taps my shoulder.

"(N/n), class ended 5 minutes ago." He informs me. I look around me in surprise and confirm his words, the classroom is completely barren.

"Wh-what?!" I ask in confusion, wondering how I could have somehow daydreamed through the noise of everyone leaving.

"Come on, we're going to miss lunch." He says, grabbing my hand and pulling me up. Once I finish packing up, we walk side-by-side down the hallway to lunch.

"So what were you daydreaming about?" He asks, glancing to the side at me.

"Oh, nothing much..." I answer quietly, a bit embarrassed.

"(N/n), if it was nothing you wouldn't have been spaced out the whole class." He retorts, smirking.

I huff in annoyance, knowing he won't leave me alone until I answer him. "Fine... I was thinking about my soulmate..." I answer, mumbling slightly.

He snorts before answering. "Really (n/n), again?"

"What?! I'm just excited to meet them!"

"But you're always thinking about your soulmate."

"Easy for you to say, you've already met your soulmate!" I huff out.

"True..."

It's true, Noctis was lucky and met his soulmate, Lady Lunafreya Nox Flueret, when he was still a child. They had met when he had gotten injured and had to go to Tenebrae to be healed. He was so lucky....

"So anyways, how's Prompto been, and when do I get to meet him?" I ask.

A few weeks ago, a boy named Prompto had approached Noctis, wanting to be friends. They had apparently hit it off, and they spend a lot of time hanging out after school. Sadly, I have yet to meet him. Noctis didn't want me meeting him at first until he was sure that Prompto really wanted to be friends.

"Well, if you want, you can meet him now." He replies nonchalantly.

"Really?!" I ask enthusiastically, excited to meet the boy Noctis talks so much about.

"Yeah, sure. Just... don't make too big a deal out of it..."

"You got it Noct!" I answer happily, my walk turning into a slight skip in excitement.

"Seriously (y/n), it's not a big deal..." He mumbles quietly.

When we finally arrive at the school cafeteria, we get our lunch and I sit down at a table.

"Alright, wait here. I'll go find him." Noctis says, turning away.

"Okay!" I answer, happy to finally meet Prompto.

'I can't wait to meet him! If he really is how Noct describes him, then we could be great friends! Maybe we can even go to the arcade together after school!'

Lost in my thoughts, I don't notice Noctis walking back, a boy following closely behind. As they approach I turn my head in their direction and smile. I still can't see Prompto though, as he's directly behind Noctis.

"(Y/n), this is Prompto. Prompto, (Y/n)."

I stand up to greet him, a smile on my face and my hand going to extending to shake his, but as Noctis steps aside, it feels as if all time stops.

Slowly, and yet somehow all at once, everything around us explodes with color. All of the drab grey turning into brilliant shades of red, orange, yellow... but I pay no attention to that. My full attention is on the boy in front of me. He has brilliant light blue eyes that seem to be full of life, freckles that litter his pale cheeks cutely, and his hair is a brilliant shade of yellow that reminds me of sunshine. He looks just as shocked as I feel, mouth opening and closing like a fish in pure shock.

"C-can you see the colors?" I stutter out quietly, hoping this wasn't just a dream.

"Y-yeah." He replies breathlessly, not looking away from my eyes. And that's when I realize:

I've found my soulmate.
