The Festival Part I |Mystery x Reader|

(A/n) Hi everyone! This one-shot is gonna be a little different than the others. In this one, I'm going to leave who's going to be with the reader as a mystery to make it more fun. It'll make more sense at the end once you've read it. Also, everyone's in high school so that they can still be in Insomnia. Enjoy!

"Can you believe the chocobo moogle festival is so soon?" Prompto asks excitedly, looking at the poster on the side of the shop wall.

"I'm so excited, it looks so fun, and I love chocobos and moogles," I say happily, looking at the cute drawing of the chocobo and moogle.

"You know, it's pretty soon. Only a week until then."

"Yeah, can't believe times gone by so fast," Prompto replies to Noctis.

"Still can't believe you missed it last year, (n/n), like, you couldn't have gotten the flu at a worse time," Prompto says, sighing.

"Yeah I know, at least I get to go this year though!" I take my phone out and take a picture of the poster to make sure I don't forget the date, and add the festival to my calendar. "This is gonna be so much fun."

"Speaking of," Noctis says, coming beside me. "Have you thought about who you're going to go with?"

"I thought we were all going?" I ask, confused.

"Well yeah but, you know, we won't be together the whole time, who do you plan on going with?" Prompto adds, staring at me expectantly.

"Oh, you mean like a date? I haven't really thought about it yet," I reply truthfully. How could I have? I was only informed of the festival a few days ago when Noctis told me about how we all should go. Apparently everyone else had known, but I've been too busy with schoolwork and haven't had enough time to really go out or be on social media.

"Well I mean, you could always just, you know," Noctis replies suggestively.

"Could what?"

"Never mind," he says, looking embarrassed. I can hear Prompto laughing but I don't really get at what.

"Um, okay?" I say, still not really getting what he was talking about. "Wanna go to the arcade? We're close by," I suggest, smiling at the excited look on Prompto's face.

"Hell yeah!" He says, not waiting for Noctis and I as he sprints off into the direction of the arcade. Noctis runs off after him too after rolling his eyes, and I try to catch up to the two of them as we all go to the arcade.

"I can't believe we won so many prizes!" Prompto says excitedly, clutching his chocobo plushie in his hands.

"Yeah, it was so fun. Thanks for winning me this plushie Noct," I say happily, looking down at my soft octopus plush.

"Yeah, it's no big deal," he replies. "Couldn't let you go without it after trying so hard to win it."

"You're so sweet, thank you!" I hug the octopus tightly and snap a picture of it with my phone. Holding the octopus under one of my arms, I text the picture to Gladio, Ignis, and Iris with the caption "Look what Noct won me! Isn't it cute?". Ignis replies almost immediately with "Its very lovely (y/n), when might you all be back home? It's getting late." Iris replies with "So cute, lucky!" And Gladio just says "Nice".

"Ignis wants to know when you're going back home Noct."

"Already? Can't specs ever give me a break," he complains. "I guess text him that I'm on my way back now."

"I guess I'll go home too then," I say, seeing it's already 7:00 pm.

"I'll walk you home!" Prompto shouts.
