The time ticked away and the minutes felt like hours. I looked down to my phone as it read '10:15pm'. This nagging urge to call the police or phone them or do anything was fighting against my will to hold on a little bit longer because they'll show up soon.
It worked for at-least another 5 seconds after seeing the time, so i decided to look around the apartment, into their room. My room, the two bathrooms, the kitchen and living room were connected. As you enter through the door, the kitchen is right there, so there's no point looking there if i was literally just in there.
Before i knew it, i was getting my shoes and coat on, it was dark outside but who's to say that they're not out there right now. I opened the apartment door, closing it behind me and locking it. I then walked down the halls which smelt of old paint and dust. When i got to the end of the hall i chose to take the stairs instead of the elevator, gotta get my muscles strong incase i meet any weirdos. Not that i could fight for the life of me anyways.
I got to the bottom of the building. At the front of the door was a neighbour of my aunties and uncles. I quickly went over to him and said "Hey, uhh, Ronin, have you seen my auntie and uncle come in, like in the parking lot or.. i don't know.. down the street?"
Ronin looked at me as he and sighed as he said "look sorry kid, i haven't" He then walked past me with his groceries and made his way upstairs.
I then went back on track to finding my missing aunt and uncle. I went outside and walked down the street which some of the lampposts were dimly lit. However i didn't wanna stray far from the apartment so i walked as far as i could to the point where i could still see the lights of the people inside the apartments. Being out this late at night and alone is sorta creepy.
"I'm fine, you're fine Y/N, it's just your nerves." I said to myself trying to make calm of the situation i'm in.
Unbeknownst to me, I felt a presence nearby... watching me. I turned around and looked to see if anyone was behind me but, no-one was. Infact when i looked all around me there wasn't a single person in sight. 'Maybe it's just cause my nerves are shot up and i'm overthinking this all too much' I thought to myself reassuringly.
I thought so until i heard low and quiet footsteps behind me. hey, maybe my hearing isn't going after all. I began to walk a bit faster and just like me, the footsteps got faster and a bit louder. I kept going faster and faster to the point where i was running. The footsteps behind me also running after me.
'Nah man. Fuck this shit' I thought to myself.
That's when all rational thought left the window including my confidence. I bolted back towards the apartment building. Full on olympic champion style. I may not do well in P.E but when my life could be on the line, I'm sprinting the fuck out of here.
I ran back into the building not giving anytime to look behind me as i sprinted up them stairs all the way up to the floor i lived on.
'Maybe they're not following me anymore, maybe they've slowed down due to the stairs' I hoped.
I tried to listen over my breathing and my loud footsteps patting against the ground. Unfortunately, i couldn't have been more wrong. They were not too far behind me and i could hear them running still.
'Omg are they like a trackstar or something? This is getting annoying.'
I got to my floor and made myself run even faster down the hallways to my auntie and uncles place, quickly rushing and grabbing my keys out of my pocket. Once i got to the door i unlocked that shit as quick as i could like i was a pick locking mechanic and bolted inside making sure to close the door shut and lock it up behind me.
I then ran into my room, closed my door and jumped onto my bed. The adrenaline inside me rushing all over the place.
"what the hell... just happened" I huffed and wheezed as i could feel my blood rushing all around, the feeling of my body twitching put me right off.
Luckily i was placed where the fire exit was. Although you had to get out onto the railings through my window. Atleast there was another possible exit for me incase they break in.
'Ok Y/N stop wasting time and think properly. I'll call the police and hopefully they can help me'
I quickly got my phone out of my pocket and dialled 911. It rung for a moment until someone picked up and i frantically started explaining what just happened. The person on the other end tried to calm me down and said that they'd send reinforcements to my location.
Feeling a bit safer i got up and exited my room looking around through the crack of the door first making sure no-one was there before sitting down in the living room shivering in fear as i waited for the police to arrive.
Whilst waiting a million thoughts sprung through my head 'why was i being chased?'
'who even was that?' 'what do they want from me?' 'why me?'. Apparently time seemed to fly by when you're in your own thoughts as it got interrupted by a knocking at the door. Ofcourse i'm not dumb enough to go over there and open it. So i looked outside the living room window's. Thankfully it was the police. "Police, open up." They said in a firm voice.
"Right, i'll be right there!" I shouted back. I ran over and peered through the peephole in the door, seeing two officers, one old and the other quite young. I then unlocked the door.
"Thank Goodness you're here officers!" I said putting my hand on my heart.
"No problem Miss, is it alright if we take you to the station for interrogation. Not that we think you're making it up, we just wanna run some diagnostics and ask some questions if you're ok with it?" The old police officer asked.
"Sure! No problem, once again thank you so much!" I said happily following them.
"The old one told the younger officer to search the apartment thoroughly to which the younger one nodded and made his way inside.
Once we got downstairs and outside to his police car, the officer came round to my passenger door and opened it for me, he had a smile on his face underneath his grey mustache. He then went into the front seat and began to drive.
"Aren't you gonna wait for the other police officer?" I asked, a bit confused.
"He'll be fine, we're more worried about what's going on with you at the moment." He said in a gruff but calm voice.
I relaxed myself as i felt safe in the presence of authority. We then pulled up next to the police station. As he did before when i was getting in, he got out and opened my passenger door for me, to which i gave him a kind smile as i mouthed out a quiet thank you.
I followed him inside as i saw a few officers laid about taking calls, doing paperwork, talking, drinking coffee to keep themselves awake at this time of night. It was all sorta fun to see, like i was getting a tour. However that's not what i came for.
The officer then introduced himself along the way "I'm the Police commissioner but you can call me commissioner. Now i'm just gonna need you to go in this room for me, ok?"
He stopped infront of a door.
A cold..
Door.
