Days Until the Wedding: 1

I look around the empty church, fiddling with the bottom of my shirt. I ignore the priest as he walks Noelle and her fiancé Brandon through their vows. The church looks beautiful, decorated with white and lilac flowers everywhere. If I hadn't have been so involved with this wedding, I would've been happy to be here.

"Meghan," An elbow jabs my ribs.

"Shit, what?" I hiss, ignoring the death glare I'm getting from the priest.

"Where's Noelle's 'something blue'?" Vicky, Noelle's best friend and maid of honor, whispers to me.

"I wasn't in charge of that," I roll my eyes, "I brought her 'something old', my mom's pearl earrings."

"Who was supposed to bring the 'something blue'?"

"Haley," I gesture to the blonde standing next to me.

"Shoot, I knew I forgot something," Haley shrugs, "Sorry, guys."

Sorry, guys. Sorry, guys? 'Sorry, guys' isn't going to help when Noelle flips her shit.

"Do you have anything blue?" Vicky asks in a hushed tone.

"I only have my necklace," I shrug, looking down at the light blue jewel pendent hanging from my neck, "But Noelle can't have this."

"And why not?" Vicky narrows her eyes.

"It's important to me," I reply. And Ashton gave it to me for my birthday, I want to add.

"This wedding's important to Noelle," Vicky counters.

I roll my eyes, "You can find something else that's blue. Noelle isn't getting this necklace."

"Geez, what's with you?" Vicky sneers and turns away. I sigh. I've been in this stupid building for too long surrounded by people I don't like.

I space out for the rest of the rehearsal and before I know it, the priest leaves and the wedding party gets ready to go back to the hotel. I immediately take my phone out of my bag and walk outside with everyone else.

where are you? pls answer

I wait outside of the church and my mom turns around and asks, "Meghan, aren't you coming?"

"I was gonna meet up with Emily and Luke, they'll be here any minute," I answer.

"Okay, keep your phone with you, just in case we need to talk," She reminds me. I say okay and she follows the wedding party down the street in the direction of the hotel. The hotel we're staying at, owned by Emily's parents (they gave us our rooms for free at Emily's request), isn't far from the church, which is nice. I wait anxiously for Chris to text me back and a few minutes pass before Emily and Luke find me.

"Hey," Em grins.

"Hey guys," I smile back.

"Where's Chris?" Luke asks, "He asked a week or so ago about doing a boys night tonight."

"Um, I don't know," I shrug, "I've texted him, but he hasn't replied. He took a different flight up here, but he should've gotten in this morning."

"Oh, sorry to hear that," Luke frowns, "I'll keep you updated if I hear anything, though."

"Thanks," I smile.
