(luke)

"Hey," I grin as I stand in the doorframe of her bedroom.

"Hey," Emily stammers slightly as she runs a hand through her wavy hair.

"What's all this?" She smiles slightly as she gestures to the large white bag in my hand.

"Food," I answer.

"You brought me food?" She blushes.

"Of course, we're both bored so I figured why not be less bored together?" I smirk.

That statement was partially true. I was bored, but I didn't come here specifically to bust my boredom. I consider Emily a friend, and friends do nice things like this for each other, right? I thought she'd like the gesture, and plus it gave me an excuse to spend time with her. I don't know what it is about her, but I find a part of myself wanting to be with her all the time.

"What did you get?" Emily's curiosity wins over her manners and her cheeks tint pink as she asks the question.

"McDonald's," I shrug, "It sounded good and I'm hoping you're not one of those people who refuse to eat from there. Like, I know that the food isn't healthy, nor is it prepared in the most moral-conscience ways, but it's pretty damn delicious- shit, do you mind if I swear? I try not to, but sometimes it just happens. Now I'm rambling, aren't I? Kinda like you do- wait no, that sounded mean didn't it? You do ramble but it's like kinda cute when you do it. Shit, I didn't mean to say that out loud. What I meant to say was...I'm just gonna stop now," I laugh awkwardly and rub the back of my neck. Get yourself together, you dipshit, I groan mentally. I stand there as she just looks at me. Her twinkling eyes seem to mock me, but I know they just look like that normally. Her eyes twinkle like she's finding the good in everything she sees.

"Any words from you to keep the attention off of my embarrassing rambling would be appreciated," I glance to the ceiling.

"Do you know how difficult it was to censor myself twenty four-seven?" She says quickly. I immediately start laughing in relief.

"I'll tell you," She stands up as I set the bag of food on the end of her bed, "Really fucking difficult, Luke."

I laugh and nod in agreement, "You can swear whenever you want, and I'll do the same."

"Sounds great," She smiles.

"Here you go," I hand her a box of ten chicken nuggets and a large container of fries, "I didn't know how hungry you were, so I got you a large just in case."

"Thank you so much, I'm starving," She beams up at me as she sets her food down on her desk next to her notes.

"No problem," I shrug as I hand her a chocolate milkshake.

She widens her eyes and looks up at me, "You're officially the best, oh my gosh." I smile at her reaction to such a simple gesture and the butterflies in my stomach have practically all disappeared by now.

She gestures for me to sit on the end of her bed, so I do. I sit cross-legged as she sits the same way on the opposite side of the bed. We sit there in a comfortable silence, eating our food.

"Thank you so much for this," She smiles as she takes a sip of her milkshake.

"It's no problem," I shrug.

"Honestly, this is really sweet of you."

"I thought you'd like it," I can feel my cheeks begin to heat up.

"You thought right," She chuckles.

We sit there for a bit, me chewing on some delicious fries while she neatly writes her notes.
