I shine my flashlight over the various plants sprawled over the edge of the dirt path Luke and I are currently walking on. The trail is quiet, seeing as nobody else is hiking this early in the morning. The darkness is unsettling and creepy, but it's still oddly calming. It's eerily peaceful. Luke and I keep following the path, hand in hand, fingers intertwined, and everything just feels right. I squeeze his hand and he looks down at me with a grin. I can't help but smile up at him. We continue walking for a few moments and Luke begins to hum a familiar melody.

"Heart Out by The 1975," I grin.

Luke smirks and begins to hum another melody.

I laugh and roll my eyes, "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star."

"It could've been the alphabet," He pretends to be offended.

"That's not fair, they have the same melody!" I scoff.

"Fine, here's another one."

I listen carefully and answer a few moments later, "Colors by Halsey?"

"How the fuck are you so good at this?" Luke laughs. I shrug and he squeezes my hand. We walk along and he hums 'Heart Out' quietly.

"Luke?" I speak up after several minutes.

"Hmm?" He stops humming and looks down at me.

"Are you going to murder me up here?" I gaze up at him, "Because I have a science project that I haven't finished, and being murdered means that I don't have to finish it."

"I'm not-"

I look back down to the ground, "Actually, you know what? I've changed my mind, don't murder me. I've already finished half of it and I don't wanna do half of a science project for nothing, you know?"

"Em, I'm not-"

"But then again, I really don't want to have to deal with that project," I trail off, "Do you think I could, like, get someone to finish it for me? Just so if you do murder me, none of the work I did goes unnoticed, you know? But then-"

"Emily?" He laughs and interrupts my ramble.

"Yeah?" I look up at him.

"I'm not gonna murder you," He says with a laugh.

"Oh," I reply, "Really?"

"Yes, really."

"You promise?"

"Em!"

"Sorry, just making sure, y'know?" I shrug. We continue to walk and I start to wonder where exactly we're going.

"I promise I won't murder you," Luke mutters a minute or so later.

"Thank you," I laugh, "So, where exactly are we going?"

"It should be around here somewhere," Luke says as he looks around. I continue on with him and we stop abruptly once we find a smaller path that separates from the trail.

"Is that what we're looking for?" I ask in confusion.

"Yeah, we're almost there. Do you trust me?" Luke asks.

"Yes, we've already established this," I laugh, "Why?"

"Because I forgot to borrow a bandana from Ash, so I'm gonna have to cover your eyes with my hand. Do you trust me to lead you to the surprise? Like, without you falling or injuring yourself?"

"Yes, Luke, I trust you," I nod. He grins and places his hand over my eyes. I can't see anything, even if I wanted to. Luke leads me forward, occasionally speaking up to tell me about a rock or something else that's in my way. We make it with only a few stumbles here and there before Luke takes his hand from my face.
