"I feel awful, you guys," I pout, looking down at the airport table I'm sat at, joined by Emily and Luke.
"It's not that bad," Luke shrugs awkwardly, as Emily takes a sip of the milkshake Luke got for her.
"I'm the only one who doesn't know what Meghan's up to," I roll my eyes.
"She's not up to anything," Emily scoffs.
"Whatever you want to call it, she's involved with something and I'm the only one who doesn't know what's going on."
"To be fair, Luke didn't know until a week ago," Emily points out.
"That's true," Luke nods, "And even then, I'm pretty sure they only used me for a ride. It would've been kind of rude to not explain the situation."
"Exactly," Emily agrees.
"It still sucks, you guys," I groan.
"I'm sorry," Emily frowns as she takes another sip of her milkshake, "But it's not our place to tell you what's going on."
"It's not like it's some secret!"
"Even if it is, it's Meghan's secret to tell, regardless of what you say," Emily deadpans.
"I guess you're right," I shrug.
"Wow, Ashton, I'm loving all that confidence you've got there ," Emily says sarcastically.
I roll my eyes as Luke laughs.
"Why am I sitting with you guys again?" I sigh.
"Yeah, why aren't you working?" Luke raises an eyebrow.
"I'm on break," I shrug, looking at the math workbook in front of Emily, "And Meghan isn't, so I couldn't stay and hang out with her."
"Oh," Emily says as she finishes answering a question in the book. She slides it over to Luke without saying anything and he checks her work. I watch as he works through the math quickly and nods as he slides the book back to Emily.
"You're still tutoring her?" I ask.
"Yeah," Luke nods.
"I'm so close to not failing, oh my gosh," Emily says excitedly.
Luke smiles and I roll my eyes at their sappy selves. Go on a date already.
"Who's that?" Luke says after a couple moments of silence.
"Who?" I ask in confusion. Luke points to where Meghan is working. I look to where he's pointing and I see Chris standing by Meghan's reception desk.
"Oh, that's Chris," Emily looks up then back down at her work.
"Wait, you know Chris?" I quickly turn to face her.
"No, not personally, but Meghan's talked about him," She shrugs.
"She has?" I ask, not completely wanting the answer.
"Yeah."
I feel an emptiness in my stomach.
"What's the big deal?" Luke asks.
"Absolutely nothing, nothing at all. Well, it's-"
"Ashton likes Meghan," Emily mumbles.
"What?" I quickly exclaim.
Emily slowly looks up with wide eyes, "I was completely joking, but if you do-"
"I didn't say anything about that," I stammer.
She stares at me and raises an eyebrow, "You suck at lying, Irwin. You're absolutely terrible at it."
