It didn't take long for Rosé to hear about Hye Kyo's health condition from her best friend. She regretted not noticing it sooner, because if she had known that Hye Kyo was sick, she would have declined the offer from the Kim family to become the private nurse for Jisoo's father.

"Don't feel so guilty, Rosé. You don't have to take back your word to the Kim family just to look after Mama. We decided to get another nurse to look after her, also Lisa found a doctor on call so we can summon them anytime in case of an emergency." Jennie hooked her arm with Rosé as they walked through the hallway of the outpatient department of Guangshang Medical Center, where Rosé was working.

Jennie and her mother had come to see another oncologist to get a second opinion about her condition. Lisa wasn't able to join them today, as he needed to attend his classes for his master's degree earlier that morning, but he promised to follow them as soon as he was done with it.

"But Jennie…" Rosé wanted to argue, but Jennie shook her head.

"You have no obligations to repay us for anything. Didn't we talk about this before?"

"I know that, Jennie, but how can I not be worried about Aunty Kyo? She's always been there for me when I needed help. How can I not do the same for her when I could do it?"

Rosé's eyes reddened from the news, and she couldn't stop her tears from flowing the other night. Even now, she couldn't fathom what would happen to them, especially to Jennie, once Hye Kyo passed away.

She could still remember the time when both of her parents refused to pay for her miscellaneous fees to enable her enrollment at QCA. At that time, it was Hye Kyo who volunteered to sign her papers as her guardian without asking for anything in return.

"It would be a pity if someone as smart as you couldn't finish her studies, Rosie. From now on, if your parents insist on obstructing your education, you come to me, and we can arrange for your enrollment." Hye Kyo said.

Jennie gave her best friend a weak smile. She could understand what Rosé was feeling, as she was also still in disbelief of the possibility of losing her mother to her illness. She regretted not paying more attention to her mother as she was busy focusing her attention on work and on her revenge towards Taehyung and Krystal.

Also, she couldn't let Rosé lose her chance to be with Jisoo in this lifetime. If things remained the same between the two, Jennie had no doubt that they would catch feelings for each other.

She wouldn't want to deny her best friend a chance to be happy this time. Now that Rosé had a chance to reunite with her beloved, there was no reason for Jennie to stop her.

"So you and Lisa…" Rosé started getting Jennie's attention.

"What about us ?" Jennie tilted her head towards her best friend in confusion.

"Are you doing just fine? I heard that bastard — No, that Taehyung annulled his engagement with Miss Myoi." Rosé explained. She had already expected that the little tyrant was already made aware of this, given how hard he tried to keep Jennie from other men, especially Taehyung.

"It has nothing to do with us, Rosie. There's no need for me and Lisa to be wary of it." Jennie replied in a matter of fact tone. Of course, she and Lisa had heard about the news, but they couldn't be bothered about Taehyung's affairs as they were both preoccupied with helping her mother get the proper treatments.

"Ah, and here I thought Lisa was planning to whisk you away and put a ring on that finger of yours." Rosé hummed. "But then again, even though he's been attracted to you for a long time, he hasn't tried anything so far."
