Okay, so I have slightly rewrote the ending of the previous chapter. Nothing major, but i jusy made it so that instead of Marshall like dragging Jordyn inside his house like a damn caveman, she actually went in there somewhat willingly with him. That's why they are somewhat civil with each other in this chapter lol

Marshall's P.O.V.
After convincing Jordyn to come back to the house with me, I pretty much left her alone for a few, giving her her space. I had to do damage control with my little girls anyway, make sure they really ain't had no clue about the bullshit that had gone down earlier with Kim. Which I still can't believe she would do that, by the way. Not with our daughter and niece around.
Now, I'm putting both Hai and Lainey to bed, tucking them in. They ask me for their mother again, and I just tell them again that mommy is a little busy right now but she would come see them real quick.
And luckily, they are still more or less buying that for now.
See, I hate to lie to my kids, but at the same time, it ain't like I could tell a 6 and a 9 year old that their mom had slit both of her wrists in the bathroom and was then rushed to the emergency room at a hospital. And see also, that's exactly why what Kim did made me so mad.
I mean, aight, I get that she felt a certain way about what I had pulled earlier, and in retrospect, maybe I shouldn't have done that shit even if it did seem like a great idea and funny as fuck at the time, but common now, she should've thought about our little girls before she did what she did. It wasn't about just her after all, and it was selfish as hell for her to do that.
"Daddy, can you sing for us?" Hailie is asking me sleepily and sweetly, interrupting my thoughts.
I can't help but tiredly chuckle.
I'm fucking exausted as shit, but whatever my baby wants she gets.
I think of some silly dumb lullaby to sing to them and after that I'm turning off the overhead lights, leaving the nightlight on for Hailie though cause she still gets those night terrors at times, and I'm making my way downstairs where Jordyn is sitting in my living room, legs all pretzel like on the couch. I see that it ain't took her long at all to get all comfy around my place, and I'm not gonna lie, I like seeing that. Makes me think of old simpler times before everything had gone to dog shit between her and I.
She looks up at me walking in and her eyebrows knit slightly together in concern.
"How are your girls?" She asks me empathetically.
"They good. Just put them to sleep," I'm replying, plopping down to sit next to her.
"I still think I should've gone home," Jordyn now says, suddenly beginning to straighten herself up on the couch, "I don't belong here, Marshall, and I don't think it's appropriate for me to be here."
"Aw, would you stop with that shit already," I angrily interrupt her, causing her to lower her eyes.
"For real, Jo. Stop it," I say in a much softer voice, placing two fingers under her chin, making her to look back up at me. "It's totally cool for you to be here cause I fucking invited you here, so you ain't imposing or nothing. And I'm sorry."
"For what?" She whispers.
"Don't know. Being a dick to you earlier?" I suggest, my mouth forming into a crooked smile.
Jordyn contemplates for a moment then slightly backs away from me.
"Marshall, I'm really not the one you need to be apologizing to," she mumbles. "It's Kim. I still can't believe you..."
