Marshall's P.O.V.
"Girls, this is Jordyn," I introduce her quietly to Hailie and Alana, "I'm sure you both remember her someway."
Jordyn standing at my side, fidgeting just slightly as she nervously plays with the tips of her hair before stopping herself and peering down at them just as both Hai and Lainey are staring at her curiously.
I place my palm at the small of her back, knowing that she's nervous and that's okay.
My daughters on the other hand, they ain't shook by this at all. A little shy maybe, but definitely not intimidated.
"Oh, hi, Jordyn, aren't you that singer, oh my Gosh!!" Alaina exclaims excitedly then. "I think I hear your songs on the radio sometimes, and I've seen your videos on MTV!" She claps her hands then glances up at me for approval. "Isn't she that single, uncle? And is she like your girlfriend now?" She grins understandably.
Kids...
Even nine year olds are incredibly perceptive sometimes.
"That's right, baby girl. And I been told you, you can call me dad if you wanna," I clarify then. Don't really wanna push her on this, but thing is, Alaina is already like a daughter to me, and she does call me dad most of the times, bit whenever we get company around us she feels embarrassed to do just that, and I wanna encourage her, tell her it's cool.
"Okay," Alana smiles then, still looking up at Jordyn in total awe.
"I... I think I remember you," Hailie speaks up then, sort of hiding her face behind my leg. "You used to be daddy's friend... before. You used to play me with a lot, but then like, you just disappeared one day. I do remember mommy bringing me up to see you one day, then I was coloring a lot, it was fun," Hai says happily and absent-mindedly, causing both me and Jo to rense up for a few seconds.
Kids can feel everything, man. And they ate way smarter and way more perceptive than what we give them credit for. But at times they just don't get it man...
"Um... yes, that's right, girl. And Hailie, you sure have grown up since then," Jordyn then says rather awkwardly, kneeling and bending down to my little girl's level. I appreciate her trying, I guess. I know that in no time she would be great with my daughters, she will.
"Thank you, you think so? You are so pretty?" Hai then rambles just like she always do sometimes.
"Thank you so much girl, you are like so pretty too," Jordyn smiles.
I roll my eyes. Females, I swear.
No matter what age they are.
"Oh Gosh, do you want to see all of my Barbie dolls?" Hailie then rambles, grabbing a hold of Jordyn's hand who looks at me questioningly as I just shrug and nod.
"Now, Hailie," Alaina says then in her big girl voice, always taking pride in the fact that she is actually a couple of years older than her sister. "Jordyn is a grown up. She doesn't care about your Barbie dolls," she rolls her eyes stomping her foot, but then wrapping her arm around Hai protectively, indicating that she ain't mean it like that
"No, honestly, I don't mind," Jordyn then smiles sheepishly, still looking back at me.
The both girls then dragging her away as I shake my head.
This had gone way better than Jordyn had expected actually, cause she kept on panicking about the whole thing.
The whole plane flight from LA to Detroit, she was getting on my nerves about it, panicking, talking about what of my daughters would hate her, now look at them getting along.
