The guard's words echoed in the still air, leaving no room for doubt. The engagement party was over, and there had been no delay whatsoever. Krystal couldn't help but notice the tears on Y/N's cheeks, her eyes red and puffy from a mixture of frustration and sadness. Her heart ached for her dear friend, but she felt utterly helpless in this moment of despair.

Y/N had put forth a tremendous effort to rush here, driven by a fervent hope that she could somehow make it in time. She had navigated a series of unfortunate events, from flight delays to bus malfunctions, and had still held onto a sliver of hope that maybe, just maybe, fate would grant her a reprieve. Yet, standing here now, it seemed like the universe was conspiring against her, denying her that one chance she so desperately sought.

Krystal grappled with her own helplessness, unable to provide any solace or solution. She watched as Y/N's shoulders slumped, her spirit crushed by the cruel reality of their circumstances. It was a heart-wrenching sight, one that filled Krystal with a deep sense of sorrow for her friend.

As they turned away from the entrance, Y/N seemed to carry the weight of the world on her shoulders. The anticipation and excitement that had fueled her journey had been replaced by a heavy sense of disappointment. It was a devastating blow, and Krystal couldn't find the right words to comfort her.

In this moment of profound silence, the question lingered like a heavy cloud: Were they truly not meant to be together? The universe had presented them with obstacle after obstacle, challenging the very notion of destiny. Yet, deep down, Y/N's heart still whispered the name of the man she loved, the man she had traveled so far to find.

"Let's call Jimin, maybe..."

Y/N considered the idea for a fleeting moment. Her thoughts raced as she contemplated reaching out to Jimin. But she quickly shook her head, her voice filled with resignation as she replied, "Calling Jimin now... It won't change anything. He's officially engaged. Even if he answers and knows I'm here, what difference would it make?"

The truth weighed heavily on her heart: the engagement party had already taken place, marking an irrevocable step in Jimin's life. There was no turning back, and Y/N had come to accept that harsh reality. With a heavy sigh, she concluded, "Let's go."

Krystal, with a heavy sigh, gently grasped Y/N's arm, guiding her away from the engagement party. However, something caught Krystal's attention. She blinked, her eyes locking onto a figure in the distance. Confusion and disbelief crossed her face as she tugged at Y/N's sleeve.

"Y/N..."

Y/N turned to Krystal, her expression questioning. "What is it?"

Krystal pointed subtly towards the figure in the distance, her voice trembling with uncertainty. "Look."

Y/N followed Krystal's gesture and froze. Her body stiffened as she laid eyes on Jimin, who was carrying Joon Min. He stood not too far away, gazing directly at them.

"Isn't that Jimin?" Krystal hesitated, her voice filled with disbelief. After all, they had been informed that the party was already underway. It was unusual to find him outside.

Y/N nodded, her eyes never leaving Jimin and Joon Min. "Yes, it's him."

Krystal's emotions surged. "What could he be doing out here? Is he..."

Before Krystal could complete her sentence, Jimin began to walk towards them. Y/N's heart raced with each of his approaching steps, her eyes fixated on him. She didn't blink until Jimin finally stood before her. He gently passed Joon Min into her arms and tenderly cradled her face with both hands.

"Finally, you're here," Jimin whispered, his eyes filled with longing.

Tears welled up in Y/N's eyes. "But it's too late."
