That morning I woke up exhausted from the activities of the day before. Sitting up in bed, a yawn escaped me, making me clench my teeth in pain. My cheeks were still sore from all the smiling and laughing at the mall. It didn't help that I didn't get much sleep because of the family movie night. I rubbed my cheeks as I threw my legs over the side of the bed, for them to meet a soft object. I looked down and saw the pillow in it's usual place.
I groaned as I stood to pick it up, and tossed it back on the bed. I walked into my bathroom and picked up my toothbrush, putting a layer of toothpaste on its bristles. As I brushed my teeth, I stared at myself in the mirror, thinking about the relationship I was tearing apart. No matter how many times Dylan would tell me that they were fine, I knew they weren't. She was upset because of me, and he was upset because she was upset. The common factor in this argument, was me.
How I wish I could just disappear from Dylan's life and leave him with Melony so that she'd be happy, but it was kind of difficult to do when I lived right next door to him. The entire night, I was trying to think of a way to get them to show up in the same room and sort everything out, but nothing seemed to work. I could tell them to meet me at a park, but Melony would never want to see me. I could tell Dylan that Melony wants to apologize, but he wouldn't go to her to hear it. I could ask him to just forget about whose fault it was and just make up, but he has too much principle for that.
There was nothing left for me to do, except give up. I spit out the toothpaste and rinsed my mouth as I gave one last effort to think of something that would work. Meeting my own eyes in the reflection, I admitted defeat. The only thing left to do, was call Kyan and hope she had a good answer for me. I turned back to my desk and picked up my phone, dialing her number as I sat back down on my bed.
"Hello?" Her voice clicked after just a few rings.
"Hey." I greeted. "I need your help."
"What's going on?" There was a muffled clanging in the background.
I ran a hand through my hair, wondering if it was right of me to share this with her. "I don't know if you know this, but Dylan and Mel are fighting."
"Who's Mel?" She asked.
"Melony." No reply. "Dylan's girlfriend."
"Sorry, I only remember people that matter." She knew who it was, she just wanted to take a stab at her.
I chuckled on my end. "That's why you're my best friend." I cleared my throat. "Well, they're fighting because of me."
"Is it because of your encounter with the 'she-devil' at the mall?" Kyan clearly had no nice bone in her body for Melony.
"No. He doesn't know about that yet." When Kyan said nothing, I decided to go on. "Melony asked him to stop speaking to me, and when he said he wouldn't do it, she flipped."
"First of all, rude." Kyan snapped. "Who does she think she is asking him to stop talking to a friend?"
"His girlfriend." I answered.
I heard her scoff at my reply. "How is this your fault?"
"If I never posted that very first note, he wouldn't have to be in this fight with her. They could've been as happy as a married couple if I didn't jump into his life. Who knows maybe they could ha-" Kyan shut me down.
"Ly, stop." I bit my lip as I listened to her. "Even if you weren't in the picture, this Melony chick would find some other girl to complain about. It's better that he was someone worth the fight by his side. Also, she'd probably get mad at him for playing with a puppy, so..."
My brows stood high. "I don't know about 'worth it'..."
"Ly!" Her voice was stern, the same tone she used when she got angry at people.
