'Are we still on for tonight?'
Dylan's text was enough to make me smile as I tapped away at my phone's keyboard.
'Definitely. You're picking me up from school right?'
The drive to his friend's place was going to be a bit of a time spender, which was why we decided to head over right when I got out of last period. I told my parents that I would be spending the night shooting a scene at Justin's place since we didn't get to finish it last week. Telling them that I was going to Kyan's was off the list since they could just as easily call her up and ask where I was.
"Thank god it's lunch time!" A petite arm looped its way around my own, jolting me as I rushed to hide my phone. "I am starving!" I turned to the red head that hadn't noticed my shock. "Why does detention always feel like an eternity?"
I laughed at my best friend as we bounced towards the cafeteria. "Because you sit there doing nothing?"
"Probably, but it still shouldn't take up the precious time of my day." She raised her chin in a classy manner.
"Then you should stop getting on Mrs.Farrey's nerves!" I jabbed.
"In my defense, I didn't do anything today." She raised a finger to make her point.
"You said she looked like a cupcake!" I recalled.
"Cupcakes are cute!"
My eyelids dropped as I narrowed at her. "You were pointing at an under baked cupcake." I reminded.
We both laughed as we remember the droopy mess that was only half baked. "Yeah, okay." She stopped our walk by turning and facing me. "But was I lying?"
I shook my head, chuckling at her idiotic sense of humor. "And you wonder why you're always in detention." I said as we marched off.
"Oh, get off your high horse, I'll see you in detention at least once before you graduate." She promised.
"I like how you already know you'll be in detention with me." I chuckled. "But I highly doubt that I'll ever be in detention."
"Just you watch." She threatened, a small smile curling at the corners of her mouth. "But for now, let's eat!" Her pace quickened as the smell of food surrounded us.
Kyan and I joined the line as we waited patiently for our food-- well, I waited patiently, Kyan was anything but patient. Various people from our school began to pile in as well, the chatter increasing in volume with every group that entered. As we neared the lunch ladies, we grabbed a red tray and asked for our meals. I had chosen something light, a fruit bowl and a chicken salad together with a bottled water. Kyan on the other hand, was going all out. She got a bowl of macaroni and cheese, a side of mashed potatoes, a bowl of soup and a cup of iced tea.
"I am so hungry!" She exclaimed through gritted teeth as her eyes preyed on her lunch.
"Are you ever not hungry?" I asked, carefully walking to our usual table.
"True." She admitted, setting her tray beside mine.
There wasn't much conversation between us as we ate in silence, enjoying our food. "Hey!" I looked up to see Justin sitting across from us.
"Hello!" I sang.
"Ew." Was Kyan's initial response. "What are you?" She teased with a grimace.
"I'm the guy from your dreams." He bit back.
"Don't you mean nightmares?" Kyan asked with a tilted head.
My eyes were cast upon my fork as I played around with my food. "I'm so glad you two found each other."
