In the bustling main hall of the Star Corridor, Riko, Suguru, and Kuroi found themselves grappling with a profound sense of defeat. The intense battle between Satoshi and Toji compounded their feelings of loss, particularly with Satoru's recent departure weighing heavily on their minds. In the midst of turmoil, Riko began to wrestle with internal conflict, questioning her decision to merge with Tengen. The desire to forge her own path and live life on her own terms grew stronger within her.
"So this is.." Riko began, indicating to Suguru about the hall they found themselves in.
"Yeah. We're in Tengen-sama's territory now. This is the foundation of the nation's key barriers: the Main Hall of the Tombs of the Star. Once you descend the stairs, pass through the gate and continue to the base of the big tree. Then, you'll be inside the special barrier that's separate from the barrier surrounding Jujutsu High. Only those invited are able to enter it. Tengen-sama will protect you until the assimilation." Suguru explains, noticing the somber expression on Riko's face.
"That... Or we can turn back around and go home with us along with you, Kuroi-san," Suguru suggested, leaving a mixture of relief and surprise evident on both Kuroi and Riko's faces.
"When our teacher told us about this mission, he called the assimilation "erasing." He was trying to tell us to be aware of how heavy a sin that was. Our teacher may be a muscle-brain, but he often does roundabout things. Satoshi, Satoru, and I already talked it over before we met you." Suguru revealed.
Days before...
While walking, the Gojo twins and Suguru discussed the Star Plasma Vessel. With a carefree demeanour, Satoru tossed his coins into the air and deftly caught them repeatedly as he asked, "What if the star plasma vessel brat refuses to assimilate?"
"Isn't the answer obvious? We call the assimilation off." Satoshi declared.
Suguru chuckled. "Are you sure about that?" Suguru asks.
"Huh?" Both the Gojo twins were surprised.
"It might mean fighting Tengen-sama, you know?" Suguru warned the pair.
Satoru teasingly inquired, a touch of self-assuredness evident on his face, "You scared?"
"It's fine. It'll all work out somehow." Suguru commented.
"Right. Like hell, are we sacrificing a kid! Especially when she's got her whole life ahead of her." Satoshi declared triumphantly.
Back to the present...
"We are the strongest. No matter what decision you make, we will guarantee your future." Suguru calmly states, and Riko tears up at the noble gesture.
"I have... always been special, since the day I was born. Everybody kept telling me that I was different. Being special was normal to me, and I've lived my life trying to avoid danger as much as possible for the sake of this day. I don't really remember the day my mother and father died. I no longer feel sad or lonely about that. I figured everything would be fine, even if I was taken away from everyone and assimilated. That no matter how hard it was, it would stop feeling sad and lonely one day." Riko reminisced about her life.
"But..."
"But..."
"Honestly..."
