Chapter 14 | The long-awaited meeting

A few minutes later...

Following Ijichi's departure from the area with Kugisaki, Megumi patiently stood by the gate of the detention center, intently awaiting Yuji's return. As he waited, he couldn't help but observe certain peculiarities about the detention center that caught his attention.

Surprised, Megumi pondered to himself, "The innate domain's closed off! The special grade is dead! We just need Itadori to return safely."Afterwards, he was shocked and terrified when he noticed a different presence behind him.

"Sorry, but he's not coming back." Sukuna happily announces this to the mortified boy. He has appeared directly behind him. Megumi's eyes widen like a deer in headlights, sweat pouring down his forehead.

"Don't be so frightened. I'm in a great mood right now. Let's chat for a bit." Sukuna says. Megumi was paralyzed, in complete utter fear for what was to come.

"This is what he gets for trying to use me without making any kind of pact." Sukuna says, walking directly in front of Megumi with his hands in his pocket in a casual manner.

"Feels like he's having some trouble switching back." Sukuna claims. Megumi is clenching his fist in agony upon hearing this.

"Still, though... It's only a matter of time." Sukuna says. Ripping off Yuji's uniform jacket to shreds, he tossed the remains onto the floor. "So... I thought about what I can do right now." Sukuna announced, chuckling.

Sukuna proceeds to stab himself with his hand, grabbing onto his heart. Shocking Megumi. Sukuna laughs. "Wh-what are you..." Megumi blurts it out. Blood from Sukuna's chest pours down, forming its own puddle.

"I'm taking this brat hostage." Sukuna declares as he holds up the heart, showing Megumi.

"Hostage?!" Megumi questions.

"Yeah. I can live without this, but that ain't true for the brat." Sukuna casually said. He nonchalantly tosses the heart off to the side. "Also..." Sukuna holds up his finger, only to swallow it. "For good measure."

"With that, I'm free as a bird. You can be frightened now. I'll kill you. For no particular reason." Sukuna made known to Megumi. His body is twitching, absorbing the power of his finger.

"Our positions may be reversed for now. But my father will be on his way soon; when he arrives, he'll stop you." Megumi declares this to Sukuna.

Megumi, fortunately, managed to pique Sukuna's interest. Sukuna looked him dead in the eyes and asked, "Oh, really now? And tell me, where is your father now? Hmm?"

"Like I said, he's on his way now. And you'll regret what you've done here today. He's the strongest there is; you won't have any chance against him." Megumi declared. Sukuna thinks back to the brief conversation that Yuji and Satoru had about this "Toshi" individual, smiling in realization about who his father is.

"Good, I'll leave this 'Toshi' with a present for his arrival. With you dead and me having full control of this body." Sukuna says, grinning like a madman.

"You just don't get it at all." Megumi claims. He gets into his fighting stance, preparing for his fight with Sukuna. "Itadori...Itadori's coming back. Even if that means he'll die, That's just who he is." Megumi claims.

"You give him too much credit. This guy's just a little tougher and denser than other humans." Sukuna claims, wiping the blood dripping from his mouth. "Just a moment ago, he was scared out of his mind, on the verge of death, and prattling on about his regrets and all that nonsense. I know for a fact he doesn't have the guts to kill himself." Sukuna claims.
