Chapter 21 | Sister vs Sister

A few days prior to the Sister School Exchange Event...

We see Miwa asking Mai about Maki and how best to deal with her. Just as the students' break is about to be finished, they are preparing for training with Utahime and Satoshi.

"Maki? She's just a weakling. She can't even see curses. She's just a normal person swinging around cursed tools. She's forever a fourth-grade." Mai answers, stretching her arms in the process.

"Why is she even a jujutsu sorcerer at all?" Maki mockingly asks herself. Much to Miwa's relief.

Utahime is seen clapping in the background, garnering the attention of the students. "Break's over."

"I want you all down the training fields in five; if you aren't, you'll be training instead of having your lunch!" Satoshi firmly orders.

"Okay!" The students reply.

Miwa thinks to herself, "I see. That's a relief."

Present...

"Stupid Mai!" Miwa exclaimed to herself, frustrated that she was giving misinformation because Mai spited her sister at that point in time.

"This woman is stronger than you said!" Miwa thinks to herself that Maki was preparing to strike.

Maki attempted to land a blow with her staff, which Miwa blocked. In retaliation, she tried to land a blow at her legs, which Maki jumped over.

"Since she's using a longer weapon, I'll have to close the distance!" Miwa plans for herself.

Maki attempted to hit the end of her staff, which Miwa blocked. Maki tried using the other end of her staff, which Miwa then managed to block again. Miwa managed to send a backhanded punch to Maki, stunning the girl for a moment. Her head was a bit fuzzy from this.

Maki responds in kind with a roundhouse kick to Miwa's arm. Though Miwa takes advantage of Maki's dizziness, the blue-haired girl manages to overwhelm Maki for a moment. With the butt end of her sword slashing horizontally towards her waist, Maki backed up slightly.

Miwa attempts an overhead swing towards Maki. Thankfully, the greenish-haired girl manages to block these strikes. Miwa clashes her sword with Maki's staff as she pushes her entire body weight into the strike, forcing Maki to bend her knees slightly.

Maki, out of sheer will, pulls herself up, momentarily shocking Miwa. She kicks Miwa's knee, allowing her the breathing room to back up for a moment.

The two sorcerers charge at each other yet again. Maki, with one end of her staff on the blunt side, tries to strike near Miwa's head, to which she answers by blocking. Maki quickly switches to the other end of her staff, aiming for her chest. Miwa answers by blocking yet again.

Miwa tries to swing twice in succession with the blunt side of her sword, but Maki manages to block these two with no real issues.

"This isn't good! All I can do right now is dodge and parry her!" Miwa thinks to herself.

Miwa twirls her body as she attempts to slash Maki's legs. Maki somersaults over her, landing from behind her opponent. She slashes one end of her staff down, which Miwa manages to block.

While the two sorcerers clash their weapons against each other, Maki briefly notices that she's too focused on the clash itself. She kicks the blue-haired woman in the chest, sending her to fly backwards.

Maki finally tries to use her staff to land a blow on Miwa, which she manages to dodge in time. Maki somersaults over her yet again, but Miwa manages to figure out the timing of her landing. She successfully manages to cut her staff in half, surprising Maki quite a bit.
