I have a feeling a lot of the girls noticed my curiosity after it was revealed Ellie is single. But no one else except for Sam Kerr could see my hopefulness afterwards. That would explain why she's been bugging me to text the blonde for the past few days. "If you don't wanna do it through Insta, I can give you her number." She says, sitting on my bed as I grab my jersey and head to the bathroom.

It's been a week since our initiation and our first friendly match has arrived. Sam and I have gotten closer, mainly due to her interest in my interest in Ellie and how our personalities just run smoothly. Not too much banter, but not too sappy. Just right.

We're preparing for our pre match training and the game itself today and Alycia has gone with Steph and Hayley earlier to get some pancakes. Yes, Alycia has been getting closer to Raso...with the help from Steph. Let's say she found out very quickly and became their number 2 supporter. I'm always number 1 for this.

"Give me her number? And say what? 'Hi, I got your number from Sam because I've been wanting to text you for ages, totally not stalking you. How are you?'? That's just weird." I say, turning and shutting the door behind me, changing before leaving the bathroom again. At this point, I don't need to confirm my crush to Sam. She knows and is trying, so hard, to get us together. It's kinda sad. "Ugh, fine. Be sad and depressed." She says, getting up from my bed as I grab my phone and things. "I'm not sad and depressed. I'm excited and happy for the game."

"And single"

"Oh shut up."

I put on my lucky arm sleeve on my right arm as I warm up in the changing room. I'm starting. Along with Alycia. It's our debut game and I'm so, so, so nervous. I posted a story on my instagram (Which Ellie followed btw), of the changing room and the chaos of us belting songs and dancing around to get the nerves out. I wrote 'so nervous, about to die.' with it.

And a few minutes later, I get a notif from my phone. "Someone replied to your story." Alycia says, helping me check my phone as I tie up my hair. "Who?" I ask, curious. Alycia glances down before smirking. "It says, Ellie Carpenter replied to your story." She reads out. I feel my heart race as I drop my hair down and rush over to her, grabbing the phone out of her hands as I read the notification. "Okay, calm down. I'm not trying to steal your girl."

I don't reply to her and unlock my phone instead, navigating my way to Instagram. I open my DMs and immediately see her profile picture pop up, making me click the chat.

If i was there, I'll give you a super big hug.

Until then, virtual hug!

I laugh as she sends a gif of a virtual hug and I send one back before telling her I had to go to play now. She said good luck again and said she'll be watching me.

We get called to the tunnels and I stand there, feeling shaky and nervous as I listen to the cheers from outside. This is it, Y/N. This is it. Your debut in the football team of your dreams. Sam runs out in the front of the line and we follow, hearing the cheers get louder until we get onto the field. Green and gold fills the stadium as we make our way to the picture spot and we stand together.
