Once the boxes are all in the apartment, Ellie and I thank the movers and pay before we head upstairs. "Alright. Let's get to training." She says, heading to her room. We change into our kits and I tie Ellie's boots onto my feet before we head off.

When we arrive, training is in full swing and I see players running everywhere. It looks like another mini game. "Good! More pressure on the opponent next time!" Sonia says before she spots us. "Ah, Ellie, Y/N. Welcome back. We're in the middle of a mini game, so feel free to warm up by the side." She says. Ellie nods, taking a ball and jogging to the side where she passes it to me.

I smirk, passing it back. "Alright, Carpenter. Let's play a game." I say. She tilts her head, passing it back and smiling. "What game?" She asks. "We'll take turns. We must get past the defender and get the ball into that spare goal."

I say, pointing to the net that sits next to us. "If we're successful, you get a point. If the defender gets the ball off you, they get a point." I say. "What does the winner get?" Ellie asks, receiving the ball I pass to her. "Bragging rights...and they get to post something on the loser's insta story."

Ellie grins widely, holding her hand out. "Deal."

________

Surprisingly, Sonia doesn't stop us the whole time as we play. We each got points. A few because I got distracted, and a few because Ellie did. I'm currently driving the ball up the grass, getting to the goal as I watch Ellie's feet. She's ready to go left or right at any moment, depending on where I go.

Formulating a plan in my head, I fake left, making Ellie take a big step left before I spin, going right and around the defender, scoring. I put my arms up, grinning madly. My heartbeat goes crazy as I wipe the sweat from my forehead. "Take that!" I say, grinning. Ellie pants, putting her hands on her knees as she smiles. "You've always been a good attacker." She says, slightly out of breath.

The whistle blows, signalling the end of training as Ellie and I turn to glance at the team and Sonia, who are all looking at us. "Guess that was our training?" I question, picking the ball up and walking to Ellie who stands, stretching. "I guess." She says, laughing.

We walk to the team, listening to Sonia speak about an upcoming game. I feel a hot gaze on the back of my head, making me turn my head slightly to see Daan watching me from behind. "What's her problem?" I mutter. As Ellie watches Sonia, I scoot back, making my way beside Daan.

"Hey. Is there...something I did to you?" I ask, confused. Daan sighs, looking at me. "I have a question." She begins. I nod, signalling her to continue. "Are you and Ellie...together?" She asks. I blink a few times, raising my eyebrows. "No, Why do you think that?" I ask. Daan shrugs, looking to the floor. "I don't know. You two are really close and she seems really happy. Enjoys your company." She says. "We're friends." I say.

I feel something swirl at the pit of my stomach. I'm telling Ellie's ex that we're not together. Basically telling her that the girl is single and available. Does Daan want her back? "Why?" I ask. "Do you like her?" Daan asks, ignoring my question. "I... why are you asking me this?" I ask, feeling a little bit defensive. "Nevermind." Daan says as the team begins to disperse. "Sorry for pushing you yesterday." Is all she says before Daan turns to leave.

I stand there, confused out of my mind. What does Daan even want? Does she want Ellie? Is she jealous of us? I just told her Ellie's single...is she gonna try to get back with her?

I'm lost in thought when I feel a hand on my shoulder, making me jump. "Whoa, sorry. I didn't mean to scare you. What was that about?" Ellie asks, her familiar Aussie accent soothing me again. "What did Daan want?" Ellie asks, a little quieter this time "Nothing." I say, feeling insecure. Maybe they worked things out? Ellie might still have feelings for Daan. Who knows.
