JASMINE's POV

I was cursed as Mum would claim, for that reason she kicked me out of the house. All I cared about was to fill my empty stomach and find a place to safely rest my head at night. Therefore, I never needed a proper education back then. Now, I have to work twice or more on learning to both read and write properly. I was faced with my fear when Jack has graciously lend me a book that he like, and I was ashamed to confess that I haven't really read a book before. Fortunately, Louisa and Kennedy helped with some words I can't pronounce or comprehend.

Now, being in a academy with people that has an extraordinary ability like I do, I have a better understanding of who I am and who I want to be. Mum was wrong I see that now. I begin to change the thought  that what I possess is a 'bad luck'  but rather it is 'a gift' which apparently even in this world is uncommon. I am sitting at my study table beside my bed whilst looking at an empty paper,"You are gifted," Jack's encouraging words flashed back to me. "You have no supernatural ancestry yet you have that extraordinary ability only a few has." He then tap my shoulder with a wry smile. 'I can do this'. I convinced myself. 'I'll try my best to learn and be somebody, one day she will be proud of me and she will love me.'

"Jasmine?" I turn to the source of the voice. "Is Louisa not back yet?" Kennedy asks whilst she's sat at her study table rubbing her shoulder.

"No, not yet." I reply. "You think she's sleeping here?" I asks as I walk closer to Kennedy. I look out the window and up to the sky where Kennedy is looking, And saw a neon multi-colored hot air balloon, there's smoke coming from the basket maybe the pilot is cooking his dinner but it's midnight. 'Midnight snacks maybe.' I said to myself. Due to the sweeping cold air I started to rub my shoulders like Kennedy.

"We should sleep," Kennedy stands up from her desk and climb up her bed. "She'll be here tomorrow." Kennedy says finally as she yawns whilst stretching her back.

"I'm knackered." I say as I fall onto my bed face down. "Good night." I reach on my table to turn off the lamp.

In my dream. Clyde was walking silently like a cat and moves swiftly like a rat, as if hunting for his prey. He stops at the hall to scan the dark corridor, he looks behind him to signal that the coast it clear. I tried to move as quietly, but upon my first step a soft cracking noise was made, I hurried after Clyde in my tiptoes, whilst ignoring the noise that probably woke the sleeping persons upstairs.

We managed to go outside the house, Clyde has already opened the gates of the foster home when one of the nuns who's still is in her pyjamas and had her face covered with white mud pack. She immediately rung the bell as she shouts for us to stop, which made us run as quickly as our feet would allow towards to woods. Clyde and I kept on running until we're positive that no one has followed us. We stopped under the shelter of a huge tall tree. My heavy breathing over-lapped the sounds of the insects.

"You okay?" Clyde asks breathlessly. "I think we've lost them." He smiles broadly then leans back on the trunk of the tree as he tries to even his breathing as did I.

"Can wait here 'til morning?"I turn to look at him. His green eyes came into focus and his blonde hair glisten at the sight of the moon. He nods yes. I sit up to  give my leg a massage which was numb from running.

"Here, Let me." Clyde offers to massage my leg.

"Thanks." He presses on my ankle which is satisfying. "I've never ran that far in my life." I confess still in between breath.
