Nandhini's POV:

Why won't this stubborn guy text me first to check in on how I'm doing without him? Of course I have zero complaints about my in-laws since they treat me like their own daughter, but can that really make up for not being with him? No way!

I sighed and flopped onto the sofa, flipping through random TV shows just to kill time until lunch. But nothing caught my attention because my mind kept wandering to Kathir, my loving husband.

Realizing he wouldn't text me first, I grabbed my phone and messaged him.

Nandhini: "Hey, how have you been?"

He saw my message right away, and honestly, I was shocked to find him online.

Kathir: "Great, just like you."

This guy had the nerve to tease me with sarcasm after not texting me first. Now he's mocking me, saying he's doing great without me just like me.

Nandhini: "Did I ever say I was doing well? Don't assume stuff without asking."

Kathir: "You didn't say otherwise."

Nandhini: "Because you didn't care to ask me in the first place!"

Kathir: "Oh, so you texted me just to start an argument over the phone now?

Nandhini: "Fine, I give in. I just want to get back home.

Kathir: "You're welcome anytime, once you finish your exams."

I quickly asked, "What do you mean?"

Isn't he supposed to say 'When do I have to pick you up? Which bus are you on?'

Kathir: "I mean exactly what I said. You can't come home before you finish your judicial exams."

I asked again while controlling my tears, "But aren't you the one who always wanted me by your side?"

Kathir: "Oh, really? Then what are you planning to do to change your mind about becoming a judge and just come home now?"

I don't know how he caught on to the sarcasm so fast and hurt me so much, especially me. Tears started welling up in my eyes, and I didn't want him to see how much his sharp words affected me.

Why do I keep getting hurt in the end? Doesn't he feel anything for me? Has he really wiped out all the memories we made?

Remembering those beautiful moments just dragged my heart down and made me cry even more.

So, I texted him once more, "Alright, I'll finish my exams and head home if everything stays fine."

Kathir replied, "That's a good decision. Best of luck with your exams and prep."

Then, about a minute later, another message showed up, "Things will improve for us when you're done with your exams. Don't put too much thought into it. Let me know if there's anything else you need."

Staring at his last message for a good two minutes, I decided to end the convo by stating "Okay, thanks!"

Kathiravan's POV:

It's been ages since she last called or texted me. I had to really hold myself back from reaching out. Yeah, I don't want her to see how badly I'm waiting for her message or call.

Hold on, this isn't about some ego thing.

I just want her to realize the hard way that staying away from someone you love isn't easy, and hopefully, she won't mess up like this again.
