"I just feel like I haven't seen you in a while," Amaiah said over the phone. I rolled my lips together as I walked toward the front door to Eros's home, dark green plants framing the entrance.
"I've been working stuff out, and it's taken up a lot of my time. I'm not intentionally not seeing you, I just got busy," I explained quietly, opening the door which immediately alerted Malo and Belen. They pattered over to me, sniffing me cautiously and deciding I was safe to come inside.
"I know... it's just sad. I miss you, Retta. Axel's been driving me crazy lately. I've spent way too much time around him without getting to rant to you about something," she admits, sounding sincere. I trudge past the kitchen, seeing Quinton focused on his computer while sitting at the table. He glances up, and I give him a small smile before heading up the stairs.
"I miss you, too. When things slow down, we can go back to hanging out more. It's just complicated right now," I said, feeling uneasiness fill my chest.
"I understand. You know I'm here if you need anything," she replied. I inhaled deeply.
"I know. Thanks, Amaiah," I told her before hanging up, shuffling over to the room I was staying in. I still can't believe I let myself move in here. I let my guard down with Eros. He's beginning to become my comfort.
Right as I go to open the door to the bedroom, I'm tugged by the waist into a hard chest.
My lips part in a gasp as I look up. His cologne filled my senses, alerting me who it was before I even saw his face.
Eros stares down at me, holding my body tight against his. His gray eyes hooded with something soft but hard at the same time. My lungs are hollow at the sight of him, just as they do every time he looks at me like that. My stomach flutters like it's the first time all over again, and I smile, sinking into his arms.
"Hey," I mumbled, gently squeezing his forearm with my hand. Eros's jaw clenched, and he tugged my bag off my shoulder before keeping it in his grasp. I narrowed my eyes before I realized he was holding it for me, and then I was tugged away from the bedroom and toward the opposite side of the hallway.
I had no idea where he was taking me, but I followed absentmindedly, trusting him with my whole body.
We approached the larger door that I eventually assumed led to his room, and I was raising a brow at his actions.
Why was he bringing me over here?
"Eros," I mumbled, his hand clutching mine as he opened the door, revealing a dark and haunting room. It's the opposite of what mine looks like, but I love it. Black sheets and dark walls, dark green plants, and a very organized dark wooden table.
Everything was mellow to my eyes, and it had me feeling exhausted and aching to lay in that soft-looking bed.
"You know what I realized today?" I mumbled, trailing him as he moved to sit down at the foot of his bed. He raised an arched brow at me, slipping his hand around my waist.
