"Hey, Retta," Reign peeks his head into my room as I finished washing my face. I pulled the towel in my hands away from my skin, raising a brow at Reign."We ain't talking about business no more—out on the balcony. Eros is out there," Reign told me, "We'll leave you both alone."
"Okay," I nodded, "Thanks."
I didn't know if I should go out there, or just wait for him to come back to the room. After the little meeting at the club, he had separated himself from everyone. I assumed it was because he had decisions to make, but he was out there talking to Quinton and Reign, just not me.
I didn't want to think of it that way, but I couldn't help but feel like he had some sort of anger directed toward me. I didn't know if had done something or said something, but I decided I would never find out unless I talked to him.
I needed to start taking the mature route.
I plugged my phone into the charger after Reign had walked out, tugging my jacket back over my shoulder. The ocean was the only sound heard from the open window. I shut it before heading out of the room and across the villa toward the balcony. I could see Eros through the glass doors, sitting underneath the string lights that lit the backyard.
I couldn't see as much of the ocean in the dark, but I knew it was still there.
His phone was clutched in his fist, and I could sense the tense atmosphere from here.
I took a deep breath before sliding the door open, watching his grey eyes meet mine for a moment.
"What time is it?" I asked, noticing he still had his fancy watch on. He hasn't even got up from that spot since we got back from the club.
"One-thirty," he answered, his face straying from mine as he looked out off the balcony.
"It's been two hours...you okay?" I asked, lowering myself down onto the outdoor couch across from him.
He dropped his phone down onto the table, holding his empty hand out to me. I took it, expecting him to ask me something, but instead, he pulled me towards him, helping me onto his lap. His cologne lured me closer to him, and his hands felt like heaven on my skin.
But he was tense even as I rubbed his shoulders. Something was bothering him.
"I'm listening," I spoke softly, resting my temple on his uninjured side.
He looked down at me, waiting for me to elaborate.
"I'm here for you, Eros," I assured him, "What happened?"
Eros stared at his phone, its presence on the table seeming to haunt him.
"Adonis called," his rough voice echoed.
He did not seem happy about it, either.
"What did he say?" I asked, hoping I didn't sound like I was prying.
