I parked the BMW horribly outside of Eros's house. His wallet felt heavy in my hands as I rushed inside. I needed to find Quinton fast, every second important was to this situation.Whoever did this to him...whoever hid cowardly in a car and sped away after hurting him, they would get what was coming to them. Never before had I felt this urge. I had a gut wrenching instinct to help Eros, and I would do that by getting those horrible monsters what they deserved.
"Quinton!" I shouted, bursting through the door and alerting the security.
"Miss Amorette?" the man by the door questioned my hysterics. His gaze landed on my bloodied hands. I shivered.
"Eros was shot, he's on his way to the hospital. Is Quinton here?" I asked, trying to look past the man to see if Quinton's car is parked on the side of the driveway.
The man's eyes widened, and his hand instinctively hovered over his weapon.
Footsteps echoed down the stairs, and I turned to see Quinton heading in my direction.
Oh, thank God.
I reminded myself of what my main concern should be, and that is fulfilling Eros's requests. It's the least I could do while he had just gone through the most life-threatening situation.
My brain flashed with all the possible outcomes of tonight. I was scared, so, so, so scared. I couldn't lose him. Not after I just got him. The bullet missing his heart kept him from losing his life right there, and I worried myself sick by what would've happened if it had been an immediate puncture to his organs. God, there was nothing I hated more than being this helpless. I wanted to be there in the emergency room with him...but I needed to do what he told me.
"Eros was shot in the chest by somebody in a drive-by, he told me to tell you to break the connection and leave the mark behind," I quoted, not repeating the words as naturally as Eros did. Quinton's face hardened when he noticed the pure terror in my voice.
Whatever those words meant, they forced him into action.
"Do you have his keys?" he asked. I nodded, digging them out of my pocket and handing them over quickly.
"Grab the Mercedes key and get into the passenger seat. I'll be a minute," he tells me, pointing to the garage door before rushing toward the hallway.
I follow his directions, hurrying into the garage and securing the key to Eros's Mercedes. It was completely blacked out, window tint barely legal. I rarely saw Eros drive this car, but that wasn't something I could think about right now.
I typed in the code that opened the garage door, thanking myself for memorizing it a couple of weeks ago.
"Breathe," I reminded myself, getting into the sleek car.
