"Generally, no," I said, kicking my feet behind me. I laid on the couch with my laptop open in front of me, and Eros discussed Rika's situation with Reign, Michael, and Jaden.

I was finishing one of my first assignments for my online classes, and I decided I should just get ahead while I'm at it in case I get busy later into the year.

"So, generally, you've never seen sketchy things outside Amaiah's home?" Reign asked me, using my own words.

"I mean—not to the extent that I see outside my own house," I shrugged, "My old house," I corrected. Eros glanced at me. I smiled softly.

"Alright, so...Carlos Cain is off the table," Reign spoke, tossing a stack of papers onto the growing pile on the floor. He looked at Eros knowingly, and an unsettling smirk placed itself on Augustine's face. I could only imagine what they were saying with their expressions between each other, and part of me never wanted to find out.

Swiftly, Eros replaced the stack of papers on the table with a mugshot of man. The stare of the man looked oddly familiar. I couldn't bear to look at his eyes any longer than a second, it freaked me out.

I felt a nostalgic adrenaline rush through my body at the sight of the burly man's close-up image, and I suddenly realized why. The only thought in my mind was the fear I had felt when I had that huge man sprinting toward me. It caused me to physically freeze even now, and I shivered at the memory.

"Oh..."

I hadn't even realized the word left my lips, but Eros definitely did.

"That's him?" Reign asked, his eyebrows raising in my direction.

"How did you find him?" I asked, truly shocked that Eros somehow tracked him down that quickly.

"I have access to the databases for criminal records," he replied honestly, sliding the mugshot away into a file, pulling out different information instead.

"Gosh, you're like a freaking box of surprises," I poked him in the arm with my foot, and he grabbed my leg before I could jerk away.

"Hey!" I shouted, laughing as he tugged me toward him by my leg, pulling me into his lap.

"You two make me sick," Michael groaned, pouting obnoxiously across from us.

Somehow, it reminded me of myself seven months ago. The girl I was when I thought I would never have a chance at something like what my friends have.

"Sorry," I smiled, fidgeting myself out of Eros's grasp. Instead, I sat next to him, pulling my laptop onto my crossed legs.

"So, who is that?" I asked, pointing down at the file.
