The moonlight lit the hallway as I walked toward Amorette's door. Glancing at my watch, I noticed it was already three in the morning. Exhaustion overtook my sore body, but I wouldn't rest until I saw her.

I twisted the doorknob, pushing against the heavy wood to reveal the dark room.

She slept quietly beneath a blanket, the soft skin of her face glowing.

Her glasses lay folded on the nightstand accompanied by her phone that vibrated with a notification.

I know I shouldn't have, but I hovered above the screen in interest. She had three texts from Emilio and a missed call from a number I didn't recognize.

I glanced down at her, wetting my lips as her chest rose and fell underneath her silk shirt.

I trailed a hand down my bare abdomen, the aching in my left side urging me to get off my feet.

"Augustine?" her hoarse voice caught my attention, and she squinted her tired eyes at me. "What are you doing?"

I shrugged, slipping my hands into the pockets of my sweatpants. There was no one on this Earth who made me speechless like her.

She shuffled her body over, pulling her blanket back as if inviting me into her space. Blood rushed beneath my hips, but I shoved the thoughts away as I joined her in the bed.

Everything smelled like her, and it suffocated me as I ducked my head into her neck.

Her hands met my hair as she treaded back to sleep, holding me against her chest.

My fingers trembled around her waist as her energy surrounded me. She engulfed my mind, the feminine comfort caging me inside.

But I didn't hate it.

I fucking thrived off of it.

She absentmindedly let her lips rest against my forehead before leaning back against the pillow. My entire being was still, and all I could comprehend was her beauty and care. I never thanked her for helping me earlier, and it was eating me up inside.

But I didn't worry for now, because everything was fine when I was in her arms.

And I didn't realize how deep I had fallen as I slept peacefully in her presence.
