Chapter 29 : Welcome Back Daddy
Today was the much-anticipated day—the day your father was scheduled to return home from his trip. You had missed his call, and his voicemail was a mix of him apologizing and attempting to explain why he had grounded you for life. The ridiculousness of the punishment made it hard to not be angry.
For now, you found yourself seated cross-legged on top of Zoro, who was diligently doing his push-ups. At first, you were a tad insulted when he casually remarked that you weighed as much as some of the weights on Thousand Sunny. Outrageous!
The man you adored had just indirectly called you fat.
"Why not? You're pretty heavy," Zoro responded when you scolded him and declined the offer to be his temporary weights.
After some grumbling and negotiations, you eventually agreed, adjusting your position to sit cross-legged on his back. You made yourself comfortable, diving into the various spells within the book.
While Zoro continued his sets, you muttered incantations to keep his sweat at bay because, honestly, cleaning that up was not on your agenda.
"10443...10444...10445," Zoro diligently counted, his sets of push-ups ongoing. He had managed to recover with the help of the hot spring and was now preparing for your father's return.
A "warm-up," he insisted with a smirk, but you knew he was taking the whole workout routine quite seriously.
As Zoro finished his set of push-ups, grinning at you. "Getting off anytime soon?"
You chuckled, "Maybe. Depends on how well you entertain me."
He laughed and got up, flexing his muscles dramatically. "Entertainment at your service."
You smirked and leaned back, propping yourself up on your arms. "Oh, really? Let's see some sword tricks then."
He obliged, drawing his swords and performing an impressive display of swordsmanship. Twirls, flips, and precision strikes filled the air as he demonstrated his skills. You were entranced, watching each movement with fascination.
"How was that?" Zoro grinned, sheathing his swords.
"Very entertaining," you applauded, genuinely impressed. "But can you do all that blindfolded?"
He raised an eyebrow, taking it as a challenge. "Of course."
You rummaged around for a piece of cloth, blindfolding Zoro securely. Despite being unable to see, he moved gracefully, executing the same impressive routine flawlessly. You clapped and cheered, thoroughly amused.
After the mini-show, he chuckled, removing the blindfold. "Satisfied now?"
"Quite," you grinned. "But I still have the power of the book." You waved it playfully.
Zoro chuckled, "Alright, what else can you do with your magical book?"
You flipped through the pages, pausing at a levitation spell. "How about a levitation act?"
He laughed, "Show me what my girl can do."
You began to recite the incantation, feeling the energy surge through you. With a wave of your hand, you levitated a few objects around the room, much to Zoro's amusement.
"Okay, that's actually pretty cool," he admitted, impressed.
You laughed, "Magic has its perks."
As the day rolled on, you and Zoro continued to goof around, both enjoying the playful moments. The impending return of your father was momentarily forgotten as you embraced the joy of the present.
