Chapter 3 : Intuition

Once the meal was concluded, you joined your father in washing the plates. Subsequently, you trailed him to the study room, your fascination ignited by the towering stacks of books that adorned the space.

The sheer magnitude of his literary collection left you in awe, prompting you to gently graze your fingers over the book spines, seemingly drawn to the treasure trove of knowledge before you.

In addition to the books, your observant eyes caught sight of the comforting glow emanating from a crackling fire within the chimney. Its warmth was a deliberate defense against the chill of the castle.

Meanwhile, your father moved with a sense of purpose, approaching his study table and retrieving a drawing that concealed a comb. He retraced his steps and seated himself in one of the chairs that faced the fireplace, the flames casting a mesmerizing dance of light and shadow across the room.

His call beckoned you, and his gestured invitation prompted you to settle on the floor before him.

'It seems even the world's greatest swordsman possesses the skill to braid hair.'

The truth was, you had never really mastered the art of styling hair, not even in your prior life. Your go-to has always been a simple ponytail or letting your hair flow freely. However, a curious desire welled up within you, a yearning to have a glimpse of the former inhabitant of your current body, to see what she had once looked like.

He started combing your hair and you let out a purr from the movement. You had gotten red that steam had started coming out of your ears. Your father had chuckled but continued to slowly braid your hair.

Well that answered your question if you were able to purr.

"Gatita, I have received a letter from the World Government. I've been summoned to participate in a war at Marineford so we will require you to head down to visit your grandparents to keep you safe while I am not around."

'War.. I guess I was right about the letter. Ace's execution is coming soon.. Poor Luffy, I wished I could help but with how I am now, I would be useless and would just stand in his way,' You had gotten sad from hearing the news that your father broke to you.

You had rewatched One Piece multiple times but the one arc you could not bring yourself to watch again was MarineFord. The way Luffy had broken and screamed in agony had hurt you. As a sister, you knew all too well to feel as though you had failed your sibling. The effort of his hard work had gone down the drain and that hit too close to home for you.

Wait.

Hold up.

Did he just say grandparents?

You snapped your head back towards him as he had just finished tying the end of your braids, " Grandparents? You have parents? Since when?"

" Yes, Gatita," he affirmed gently.

" I will have to inform them about your unique circumstances and ask for their assistance in looking after you while I'm away. I am confident that your gran-mama and gran-papa will be more than capable of offering you the guidance you require," he reassured you, placing the comb aside as he continued to speak.

" For now, we will require you to leave this place in one week's time. During that time, I will teach you what you need to be more confident in your powers and abilities."

His words seemed to fade into the background as your mind embarked on an entirely different journey.

The prospect that lay before you was nothing short of a One Piece-level revelation – the tantalizing possibility of uncovering the enigmatic origins of the stoic man who sat before you, your father.
