Chapter 46 : Catnip
You and Ella were nestled within the opulent confines of your chambers, the air rich with anticipation as the hour of your wedding drew near.
The delicate brush of makeup had just kissed your cheeks, and your hair, meticulously styled, cascaded elegantly around your shoulders.
As you sat in your robes, savoring a glass of your favorite wine, the weight of the impending ceremony pressed upon you.
In the realm of this kingdom, marriage held a sacred significance, with divorce regarded as a taboo of grave consequence.
Complicating matters was the emerald nestled within the King's chest, a gemstone intertwined with both your fate and his.
Ella, your steadfast companion and guide through this maze of intrigue, laid out the precarious plan that lay ahead.
There were two paths to removing the emerald from the King's possession: either he willingly relinquished it, or Ella would wield her magic to cast a removal spell during the chaos of the ceremony.
But such an act required a distraction of significant magnitude to prevent the King from thwarting her incantations.
"So, I create a clone to walk down the aisle, while I stir up some chaos, and you handle the rest with your spells?" you summarized, the weight of responsibility evident in your tone.
Ella flashed a confident grin in response, but her nonchalance belied the gravity of the situation.
"Simple, right?" she quipped.
You couldn't help but scoff at her casual demeanor.
"Simple, my ass! What if the plan goes awry? What then?" you countered, your anxiety palpable.
With a shrug, Ella acknowledged the sobering truth.
"If all goes south, I face execution, and you're bound to the King for eternity," she admitted, her words punctuated by the weight of consequence.
Your heart sank at the realization.
"And I'm expected to sever my bond with Zoro?" you exclaimed, the weight of the decision bearing down on you.
"Eh, obviously! It's tradition. You'll have to publicly dissolve your connection with your soulmate before the ceremony," Ella replied, arching an eyebrow as she observed your expression shift to one of dread.
"I can't subject Zoro to the repercussions of a broken bond!" you protested, the worry evident in your voice as you gnawed anxiously on your nails.
In response to your distress, Ella calmly produced a piece of parchment, sliding it across the table toward you.
"Relax, girl. You won't need to completely sever the bond. Just cast this spell before you slip into your wedding gown," she reassured you.
You accepted the parchment, curiosity piqued as you scanned its contents.
"What exactly does this spell do?" you inquired, eager for clarification.
"It's a concealment spell designed to temporarily obscure your bond with your soulmate. Think of it as hitting the pause button on your connection. It will last for 2 weeks and then your bond will be back to normal."
"I have a concentration spell on at the moment, if i cast this one, the current one will break and I really don't want Zoro to suffer on his journey while-" you tried to explain but Ella interrupted by lifting his hand at you.
