Chapter 17 : Soulmates
Kuraigana Island was shrouded in darkness, its eerie silence broken only by the distant cries of the resident creatures. Roronoa Zoro, the swordsman of the Straw Hat Pirates, stood alone, his eyes scanning the horizon for any sign of his crewmates.
The crew had been separated during the chaotic events at Sabaody Archipelago, and Zoro had ended up on this desolate island, longing for the day he would reunite with his captain and the rest of the crew.
But there was something else that gnawed at Zoro's heart, something that had been bothering him ever since their separation. He couldn't quite put his finger on it, but it was as if a part of him was missing.
Zoro had always been the stoic and pragmatic member of the crew, not one to indulge in sentimentality or introspection. However, this feeling was different, deeper, and more profound.
It was during a quiet moment on Kuraigana Island, as he was catching his breath after the fight with some stupid mimic baboons in solitude, that he felt it—the connection with you, Y/N.
The connection that allowed him to sense your emotions, your well-being, and your presence, even when you were miles apart.
Zoro had initially been baffled by this unusual connection.
Afterall, you were just Luffy's house cat! A pretty strong house cat!
But still, it had started as a vague sense of your emotions, like an echo in the depths of his heart. He would feel moments of happiness, sadness, excitement, and fear, as if they were his own.
Unbeknownst to Zoro, a sense of unease had settled within his heart, a subtle disquiet that he couldn't quite place. It was as if an invisible thread had been tugged, leaving him with a faint sense of unrest. He couldn't shake the feeling that something was amiss, something beyond the scope of his understanding.
He continued to navigate the chaos of the battle with the baboons but his thoughts were consumed by the urgency of the moment. Every swing of his swords, every clash of blades, demanded his unwavering focus. The adrenaline coursed through his veins, drowning out any other distractions.
But beneath the surface of that fierce determination, there lingered a subtle layer of concern. He couldn't explain why, but a part of him felt like there was a missing piece to the puzzle, something that didn't quite add up. It was as if the very air around him held a whispered secret, and he strained to catch its elusive message.
Amidst the chaos and the cacophony of battle, a fleeting thought crossed his mind – a memory of you, the one who had appeared before him as a cat in that alleyway. Your eyes, your presence, your enigmatic aura – all of it flashed through his mind, a reminder of the connection that had formed between you two.
His swords cutting through the fray with precision and determination. Yet, even as he clashed with adversaries, that underlying unease remained, a silent whisper that refused to be ignored.
It wasn't until the battle had ended, until the dust had settled and the adrenaline had begun to fade, that the truth came crashing down upon me. The realization that you had been hurt, that you had fallen.
" Somethings wrong.. Why do i keep thinking about that damn cat?!"
In that moment, the unease transformed into a wave of dread and guilt, crashing over him just like one of your tidal waves. The threads of destiny that had bound you two together were suddenly tangible, and he was left grappling with the weight of not having been there to shield you from harm.
