Chapter 49 : Roronoa Zoro

Purapurapurapurapura

The resonating purr of the dendenmushi reverberated loudly across the decks of the Thousand Sunny, its distinctive sound slicing through the air with urgency.

"It's me. I resigned from the Warlord," Doflamingo's voice crackled to life from the other end of the line.

"He's on the line!" Franky's voice boomed with a mixture of astonishment and concern, the gravity of the situation evident in his tone.

Chopper echoed his words, his voice trembling with disbelief as the reality of the situation sank in.

"Doflamingo?!" Luffy's voice rang out across the deck, his excitement palpable as he rushed over to where Law held the dendenmushi.

Usopp's eyes widened in alarm, and he hurriedly smacked his captain's head, hissing, "SHHHHHHHH! Don't let him hear you!"

With typical Luffy impulsiveness, he lunged forward and snatched the receiver from Law's hand, his grin widening.

"Hello?! This is Monkey D. Luffy! I'm gonna be King of the Pirates!"

Usopp groaned, his hand moving to smack Luffy's head once again in a futile attempt to quiet him.

"I told you to shut up!"

Law couldn't help but sweatdrop slightly at the chaotic interaction unfolding before him, a mixture of exasperation and amusement flickering across his features.

But Luffy, as oblivious as ever to Usopp's warnings, forged ahead with his line of questioning, undeterred.

"Oi! Mingo! Are you stupid old Caesar's boss?!"

Usopp, now struggling to physically restrain Luffy, shot a desperate look at the rest of the crew, silently pleading for assistance in managing the irrepressible rubber pirate.

"He gave Brownbeard and the children hell!" Luffy's accusatory finger pointed squarely at Caesar, his expression fierce as he continued his tirade.

"We will give you back Caesar as we promised, but if you do that again, I will beat the hell out of you!"

Doflamingo's brow furrowed at Luffy's bold declaration, his lips pressing into a thin line.

Yet, instead of engaging further on the topic, he deftly shifted the conversation to another matter.

"Mugiwara no Luffy," Doflamingo's voice dripped with intrigue as he uttered Luffy's name, his tone sly as he continued.

"You went away after your sister died in the war. Where were you and what were you doing?"

Luffy's eyes widened in surprise, a flicker of confusion dancing across his features as did Zoro, who had been seated, quickly shot up in response.

"How did you—" Luffy began, startled by the revelation. Not many knew about his sister's involvement in the war, especially most of his crew mates.

Zoro's jaw clenched at the unexpected revelation, his gaze fixed on Luffy with a mix of concern and apprehension, while the rest of the crew looked on in bewilderment.

"Luffy had a sister..? She was there at the war and had died..?" Chopper's voice carried a note of astonishment as he glanced up at Robin, who simply nodded in confirmation.

"Doesn't matter now," Doflamingo's chuckle dripped with malice as he continued, "I've always wanted to see you. I have something you'll want very badly."

"Something I want..?" Luffy echoed, his curiosity piqued as tension thickened on the deck, the air charged with anticipation.

And as always, Luffy's mind veered toward one thing.
