Chapter 45 : No Time
"DO YOU THINK THIS IS FUNNY!?"
You erupted, your voice trembling with a mixture of frustration and disbelief.
Following the shocking announcement of your impending marriage to King Emanuel, you found yourself in a daze for the duration of the journey to the castle.
The world seemed to blur around you as you struggled to comprehend the whirlwind of events unfolding before your eyes.
Upon arrival, the king had graciously escorted you to what appeared to be your chambers, a lavish and ornate space befitting royalty.
Concern etched his features as he observed your blank expression, prompting Ella to intervene and suggest that you were simply fatigued and in need of rest before the royal fitting of your wedding gown.
Now, as you stood before the mirror in a resplendent golden silk wedding dress, flanked by handmaidens and Ella, reality crashed over you.
The sight of your reflection jolted you back to consciousness, eliciting a scream of frustration at the absurdity of the situation.
The dress, though undoubtedly exquisite, felt like a suffocating shackle binding you to a fate you had never asked for.
Each delicate stitch and shimmering thread seemed to mock your predicament, serving as a stark reminder of the lack of agency you had in this elaborate charade.
Amidst the opulence and grandeur of the castle, you felt like a prisoner trapped in a gilded cage, suffused with a sense of helplessness and indignation.
How could they expect you to embrace a future that had been thrust upon you without consent or consideration for your own desires and aspirations?
As the handmaidens busied themselves with the final adjustments to your gown, you couldn't shake the feeling of being trapped in a nightmare from which there was no escape.
The impending wedding loomed over you like a dark cloud, casting a shadow over your once-familiar world and leaving you grappling with a sense of uncertainty and dread.
The handmaidens, taken aback by your sudden outburst, hastily retreated behind Ella, their wide-eyed expressions betraying a mix of confusion and trepidation.
However, Ella remained unfazed by your display of emotion, her demeanor calm and composed as she addressed you with genuine concern.
"Y/N, what seems to be the matter? Is the dress not to your liking?" she inquired, her voice tinged with curiosity.
You whirl around, clutching the sides of the wedding gown as you confront Ella with a sense of urgency.
"This is utterly absurd! I can't just simply be expected to marry the King of this realm on a whim!" you exclaim, your frustration palpable.
"Why not?" Ella's response is nonchalant, prompting you to bristle with indignation.
"He cannot just decree a marriage without any regard for my feelings! I barely even know him! And besides, Zoro would have his head if he ever discovered this!" you add vehemently, your voice tinged with a hint of desperation.
As you attempt to descend from the stool in a bid to escape the suffocating confines of the bridal chamber, Ella's demeanor shifts, her expression thoughtful as she addresses you with a hint of uncertainty.
"Y/N, there is something that has been troubling me. Your soul seems different, and your words imply a sense of unfamiliarity with us. What is the meaning of this?" she questions, gesturing for the handmaidens to vacate the room and affording the two of you a moment of privacy.
