Chapter 28 : A Tragic Love Story

With the vision of the past fading away, you felt the strong pull of the present. The emotional connection to that painful memory was gradually releasing its grip on you. As you emerged from the remnants of that heart-wrenching scene, you found yourself back in the basement, standing beside the hot spring.

Tears welled up in your eyes as you grappled with the weight of what you had just witnessed.

It was an incredibly intimate and raw glimpse into your family's past—your father's torment, your mother's sacrifice, and your innocent self caught in the crossfire.

"What... what did I just witness?" you whispered to yourself, trying to make sense of the emotional whirlwind that had just swept through you.

Your mind raced as you struggled to process the revelations. It was a lot to take in—a family tragedy that had shaped your father's demeanor and haunted your memories of the basement.

Zoro, who had been watching you closely, placed a gentle hand on your shoulder. "Are you alright?"

You looked at him, tears still glistening in your eyes. "I... I never knew. I had no idea."

He offered a comforting embrace, allowing you to lean into him. "What happened? You just went still after a bright light appeared."

" The spell..Essence Fragment..I get it now," You covered your eyes, not wanting Zoro to see you cry, " It's a spell that allows me to tap into any residual magic essence at a place and witness a memory of a specific time."

" But why are you so emotional about it? What did you see?" Zoro's voice carried a tinge of concern, bordering on anger, a sign that you had to quickly calm your heart down or he might react impulsively.

"Should I cut the Hot Spring?"

" Do I need to knock some sense into you?" you said in a stern tone, giving him a light knock on the head. The impact was strong enough for him to end up face down, floating in the water, with a noticeable red mark on his head.

" Don't you even think of destroying this hot spring!" you admonished him.

The properties of the water worked its magic, quickly tending to the wound Zoro had acquired.

The sight left you in awe. You couldn't help but smile into the water, offering a light whisper,

"Thank you, Mum... for everything."

With Zoro now healed, you carefully helped him out of the hot spring. As the two of you exited the room, you glanced back and noticed the ethereal, blue-hued figure that resembled your mother.

She was as beautiful as the photo you had of her, a comforting and familiar presence.

She gave a tender smile, a warmth emanating from her, and waved at you before slowly dissipating into the ambient glow of the room. It was a bittersweet moment, a closure that brought a mix of emotions.

"Did you see that too?" you asked Zoro, feeling a need to confirm that you weren't the only one witnessing these extraordinary occurrences.

"See what?" he replied, confused.

"Never mind," you said, a fondness in your voice.

As you both made your way back upstairs, the weight of what you had just discovered still rested heavily on your shoulders. The wounds of the past, though healed, had been opened again.

You felt a mixture of sadness and relief, grappling with the new layers of understanding about your family's history.
