〖 Riddle's Flashback 〗

Within the confines of a serene, warmly lit dining room, a young child patiently sat at the table, his small hands folded neatly within his lap as he impatiently awaited the return of his doting mother from the kitchen. It was a special day. It was his birthday. As the door to the dining room creaked open, the child's vivid, captivating eyes instantly sparkled with joy and excitement, anticipating the imminent arrival of his beloved mother, who was about to grace them with her presence once more. "Happy eighth birthday, Riddle. This year's birthday cake is a low-sugar recipe made with nuts and lecithin-rich soy flour to improve your cerebral function." Riddle's mother beamed with pride as she presented the cake to her son.

With each passing moment, Riddle's heart sank deeper and deeper as he gazed upon the visually enticing yet seemingly sugar-starved confection before him. The expertly crafted cake exuded an air of enticing allure, but alas, the disappointment of a low-sugar recipe was soon to follow, leaving the once hopeful and expectant Riddle's face shrouded in a cloak of despair. "Thank you. But, Mom... Just once, I'd like to try one of those tarts covered with bright-red strawberries..." He looked pleadingly at her. Riddle's mother went livid at the mention of the forbidden tarts. Her eyes narrowed, and her voice grew stern as she reminded him of his dietary restrictions.

"Absolutely not! Those tarts are monstrously unhealthy. I might as well feed you poison!" The disappointment in Riddle's eyes deepened, realizing that his plea had fallen on deaf ears once again. He flinched at the acidity in her voice as she continued, "Even just a single slice would exceed your recommended daily intake of sugar. Dinner tonight will be a tuna sauté rich in DHA and omega-3 fatty acids. Now that you're eight, your caloric intake should be 600 kilocalories per meal, so don't eat more than 100 grams of it. Understood?" With a downward gaze, Riddle's frown deepened into a formidable V-shaped crease that etched its way across his furrowed eyebrows, betraying his mounting sadness. "Yes, Mom."

"I'd always wanted to try one of those tarts with the bright-red strawberries."

"The local cake shop had them in the window."

"They shined at me like forbidden jewels."

Riddle sat at his desk in his room, surrounded by stacks of books and papers, a curious look in his eyes as he flipped through the pages of a worn and tattered book of classical magic. His eyes glided across the pages, absorbing the ancient wisdom and incantations. As Riddle's mother gracefully entered the dining room, her sturdy form cast a poised and imposing presence beside her son, her arms crossed tightly across her chest, and her countenance reflected a stern determination.
