2 - The 74th Reaping

[Viv was seen sitting on her sofa alone watching the TV, while Oscar the cat sat on the far side of the room staring at her.]

[Viv suddenly turned away from the TV to return the stare to Oscar.]

Viv: I'm going to bury you one day.

Everyone laughs at the screen once again, seeing Blake's hatred for the ginger cat. While everyone else laughs, Blake mumbles to herself about how much she hates that goddamn cat, earning an amused look from her fiancé and sister-in-law, who are the only ones close enough to hear her.

[Viv stared for a moment longer before turning back to the screen.]

[Unlike last year, Viv decided to watch all the reapings she could before she had to attend her own. This way, she could scope out what the other tributes will be like. Hopefully, she will be able to give advice to her tributes.]

[The scene changes, and it shows what Viv is watching on the TV – District 12's reaping.]

[Like in District 11, everyone was wearing their best clothes. However, all of them were grey.]

[On the stage to the far left was the sole Victor from District 12. Haymitch, who was swaying side to side slightly, probably caused by his drunken state.]

[Soon, a woman with big white hair and an all-bright pink outfit walks out onto the stage with a massive, excited smile on her face. Her name is Effie Trinket.]

"I forget all these Capitol people dress like it's Halloween every day." Tony comments, earning himself several nods of agreement from everyone who has heard him.

Effie: Welcome! Welcome, welcome. Happy Hunger Games. And may the odds be ever in your favour.

"That saying has always made me want to throw a knife into the heart of everyone who has ever said it," Blake says as she glares at the screen. Most ignore her, not wanting to piss her off. However, Yelena, being Yelena, snorted loudly before encouraging her to do it. This earned Yelena a slap on the back of her head from her red-headed sister. However, Blake smirked at the blonde, nodding her head.

[She scanned the faces of the crowd for a moment, her smile never faltering even when seeing the down-crescent faces of the people from District 12.]

Effie: Now, before we begin. We have a very special film. Brought to you all the way from the Capitol.

Effie: I just love that! Now, the time has come for us to select one courageous young man and woman for the honour of representing District 12 in the 74th Annual Hunger Games. As usual, ladies first.

[Effie moves to the pool of names and dramatically holds her hand over the bowl before reaching deep into it, pulling out a singular piece of paper.]

[She goes back over to the microphone and opens it.]

Effie: Primrose Everdeen!

[The camera pans over to a young girl – Primrose – who reluctantly and slowly starts moving over to the stage.]

Effie: Where are you, dear? Come on up. Well, come on up!

[As the screen follows Primrose, there is movement of a slightly older girl pushing her way through the crowd.]

[When she sees Primrose, she starts shouting.]

Katniss: Prim! Prim! No. No!

[The peacekeepers lunge forward to her, holding her back and preventing her from getting to Primrose.]
