3 - Lovers

[The second she entered the train, Thresh was standing there waiting for her.]

[She immediately pulls him into a tight hug as they both start crying.]

Viv: I'm going to do everything I can to help you. I promise.

Thresh: I know you will.

Viv: I'm so sorry.

Thresh: It's not your fault. This will never be your fault.

[Viv just shook her head, ignoring him, and continued to apologise.]

Viv: I'm sorry. I'm so, so, so sorry.

Thresh: I know. It's okay.

[After a few moments in each other arms, they both recomposed themselves before walking into the main carriage compartment, where there was surprisingly an additional person sitting there.]

[Seeder looks gently at the best friends.]

Seeder: I decided to come out of mentor retirement this year so that you can focus on Thresh. I'll take care of Rue.

"If you're allowed to have two mentors, why didn't Seeder go last year?" Sam questioned.

"She did offer. But she had been a mentor for such a long time – she was the victor of the 30th Games – so I said I'd go alone. She could retire and spend her time where it should be focused: her kids and her husband." Blake responded, thinking back fondly on Seeder, who acted more of a mother to her than her actual biological mother did since her father's death.

[Viv sighs in relief and walks up to hug Seeder tightly.]

[She leans down to whisper in the shorter woman's ear.]

Viv: Thank you. I honestly don't think I could have done this alone.

Seeder: I know. I understand. You just focus on Thresh; I'll deal with the rest, okay?

Viv: Yeah. Thank you so much.

Seeder: Of course, Darling.

[The scene changes to later in the day. Thresh and Viv are in Thresh's assigned room, cuddled up under a blanket while sat on the bed.]

[Viv had just finished explaining the basics of the Games and about how they start the second he steps off this train.]

Thresh: What's our plan gonna be?

[Viv looked at the boy, her eyes still bloodshot, matching his.]

A lot of the room frowns. They always hated it when Blake cried. She was a very compassionate person, and it is something that drew them all to her, so when she was hurt, they all felt that pain on her behalf with her.

[She nods at him before adjusting herself so as to sit opposite him, legs crossed.]

[He moved, copying her actions.]

Viv: We need to make them like you. I'm one of the recent Victors; they still love me. I think we should play into that.

"Smart," Yelena muttered, earning nods of agreement from the room. This once again shows the beginning of how Vivienne became the leader she is today, making plans and doing whatever she needs to do to succeed.

[Thresh looks at her confused.]

Thresh: Tell them we are best friends?

[Viv shakes her head, looks him in the eyes, and sighs.]
