BUCKY HAD A ROUGH DAY.

Valerie had left their session yesterday due to him throwing the plate with his breakfast at the glass. That was a day after he asked her if she loved him, and she made sure to give him time after walking out without answering. Every time she had visited since, he sat silently, staring at the wall.

"Any progress?" Steve brought his mug to his lips.

The pair sat across from each other in the kitchen, chatting about the snow that had fallen overnight. Valerie blew raspberries in response, throwing her hand up in the air. She rubbed her forehead slowly, taking a deep breath.

"I'm sorry. I know this must be hard. Just have some faith," Steve gently squeezed her shoulder.

She only nodded, eyes pointed at the floor as he got up to walk away. She checked her watch, seeing that it was almost ten. She groaned and reluctantly poked her head into the common room. Sam instantly saw her, nodding as she gestured to get going.

Natasha stood up as well. "See you later tonight, Bruce?"

"Yeah." He nodded. "Tony will get drinks."

"What's later?" Valerie asked, stepping in pace with Nat down the hallway.

"Tony and Pepper got back together, so he's throwing a party," Sam replied. "You in?"

"Ask me after this session."

"Remember to give me the signal if you feel unsafe," Nat spoke as they rode down in the elevator.

"I can handle a plate hitting the wall."

"I know..." Nat shook her head. "...But he can't just hurt you physically,"

Valerie turned her head to look at her, noticing the somber look on her face. She was right. Bucky had a unique power in his possession, and she could only hope he wouldn't use it.

She gave her friend a small, reassuring smile before stepping out of the elevator. She clutched the file in her hands, holding on as if to ground herself. Nerves set in on her as she walked the gangway and caught a glimpse of him.

He was hunched over, breathing heavily. She noticed a few of the furniture items looked broken, no doubt from him.

She cleared her throat, sitting down in her chair.

"How are you feeling?" She asked.

"Fucking fantastic,"

She instantly registered his mood and mentally organized it into the 'don't push it' category.

"Good."

"I'm tired, doc, why don't we cut tonight short, hm?"

She shook her head. "Please state your name,"

His jaw tensed. "If I say Bucky, will you let me out of here?"

"Is that a joke?"

"My name is Bucky Barnes," He mocked. "Now, can I go?"

She slammed the file shut. Maybe it was her sleep deprivation from the previous sessions, frustration from the lack of progress, or her impending period, but she was not in the mood. His eyes glimmered as her chest began to heave.
