"IT'S BEEN A WEEK."
"I'm aware,"
Fury chuckled. "You have changed, Dr. Harris. Barnes has certainly rubbed off on you,"
"I'm sorry, sir, I just have a lot on my mind."
"How are the sessions going?"
"When I can get him to leave his room, he just deflects. He only answers questions if I go first," She rolled her eyes, thinking of how he's managed to drag information out of her without really revealing anything himself. Damn spy.
"Keep at it. He wanted this, remember,"
She nodded, offering a reassuring smile before the hologram of Fury's face disappeared with a swipe. Sighing, she straightened her sweatshirt before leaving her office and starting for the elevator. As the doors opened, she was surprised to see Sam already inside.
"Hey, girl," He called cheerfully. "Going to retrieve your mans?"
"Something like that, Sam," She groaned. "Where are you going?"
"Meeting Wanda and Vision downstairs. We're going to the movies,"
"The mo--why the hell wasn't I invited?"
He gave her a pointed look.
"Fine," She sighed. "Yes, I've been M.I.A. all week. That tends to happen when you're trying to break your boyfriend out of amnesia."
"This is why I stay single,"
The doors briefly opened to let her out onto her shared floor. She gave Sam a quick wave before dragging her feet over to Bucky's door, composing herself before she gave it three soft knocks. He opened it after a few moments, just as her hand was rising to knock again. Her eyes instinctively shot down as they were met with his flesh, accompanied by water droplets cascading down his skin. Before her eyes could go any lower to the 'v' that was forming against a white towel, she cleared her throat.
"We talked about this yesterday," She deadpanned. "Shirts stay on during sessions,"
"Have we started?" He lazily spoke, his arm reaching for the doorway to lean.
"It's 3:07. We start at 3."
"Is it 3?" His brows furrowed.
"Barnes," She growled.
His eyes darkened for a split second as he leaned further forward, that towel hanging on for dear life. "I like when you get angry,"
Her cheeks flushed, yet the anger in her belly grew stronger. Try as she might, he knew exactly how to get under her skin. She reminded herself this was because he was feeling inadequate, anxious, and unsure of himself. Better to make someone angry than disappoint them, which was exactly what he was doing by being late. Disappointing her. He saw it on her face, whether or not he told her he did. So instead of apologizing, he pulled this act.
"Get dressed and we'll start," She only said.
He rolled his eyes before retreating to his room, leaving her alone in the living room. She sat in the chair adjacent to the couch in true therapist fashion, crossing her legs and clicking her pen. A few moments passed before he came back out, this time fully dressed. She gave him a smile of satisfaction as she watched him sit on the couch facing her.
