"IT'S PERFECT,"

Valerie marveled at the light that came into the apartment. The windows were huge, letting in a glorious amount of sunlight that shone on the wood floors. It was small, only two bedrooms, but she deemed it perfect. Bucky smiled at her as she walked around, her mouth slightly agape.

"You like it?"

"I love it," She whispered. "I absolutely love it--we can put a dining room table there, and the couch there, maybe some plants--"

"For now, we'll have to settle with some blankets," He chuckled. "I bet it will be a while until we can go furniture shopping. Once this bullshit is over, we'll go for a stroll and I'll show you all the things I loved here growing up,"

"I can't believe this used to be your building,"

"Looks way different now, I bet the entire thing has been redone, but yeah. This was home,"

"This is home," She smiled at him.

He watched with a smile on his face as she leaned up on her toes to look out the window in the kitchen. The walls were bare, floors a plain wooden color, but it was perfect. As long as she was in it, he didn't care what it looked like.

"We could always order furniture, people do that now--what?" Her eyes settled on his, lost in thought.

"I love you," He simply said.

Her lips spread wider. She walked over to him, grabbing his hands in hers. He bent down to give her a kiss and a small slap on her backside.

"Did you update Steve?"

"No, I will later."

"I wonder what they're all doing. Probably freaking out. This feels so weird, being so far from them. But seriously, how many jobs are there that you live two floors down from your employers?"

"I hate that they called you that,"

"It really fucking stung, that's for sure." Then, she grinned, "Wait, does that make you my boss too?"

"Technically, I wasn't your patient. If anything, I was your test subject."

Laughing, she said, "Look how that turned out."

"I mean, you fixed the problem. Kind of,"

"If only you were my test subject for something that actually worked--"

Her eyes widened for a second, her mind racing. He was too busy staring out of the window to notice the look of sudden realization on her face. Her thoughts, however, were cut off by his voice.

"Maybe we should order some furniture. I'm starting to think about the logistics of sleeping,"

"I used to sleep on a table in my lab for you, the floor should be a cakewalk."

"I guess I have slept in worse,"

"How long until this is all disrupted do you think?" She asked.

"Well, they don't know where we are. Neither does MONA. So, I guess we'll see."

"As long as I have you, I'm happy."

He smiled before pulling her in for another kiss.
