*************Grace's POV**************

I lay in the hospital bed, my heart pounding with worry.

The door creaked open, and there he was, Crowley. His eyes met mine, and I waited anxiously for him to speak. But he took too long.

"Where is she?" I blurted, "Is she safe? Did you find her?" Crowley chuckled at my many questions and nodded with a grin.

"We did it. We saved Lily. The plan worked, " he told me. A rush of emotions flooded over me, a mix of relief and guilt that I hadn't been there to take care of her myself.

"Thank you, Crowley," I gasped, a small sob escaping my lips. As if it was instinct, Crowley rushed to my side and held me. I let him.

"Shhhhhh," he soothed, as I clutched at his shirt. "She's safe. We got her back."

"You have no idea how grateful I am that you helped me," I sobbed

"It's the least I could do after the way I've behaved recently," he sighed, stroking my hair and cupping my face so he could wipe away my tears.

"It was an impossible situation," I defended. It was a habit to defend him.

"I promise to do better," he whispered, kissing my forehead. "I just need you to give me a chance."

"Crowley," I sighed, pulling away. "I'm caught in a whirlwind of emotions right now," I sighed. "I'm not sure it's the right time for this conversation.

"It's never the right time to tell someone how you truly feel," he sighed, "You're lucky that I already know, so you don't have to say it out loud."

"What did you see?" I asked, unable to meet his gaze. Instead, I fiddled with the thin hospital blanket slung across my lap.

"I know you love me," Crowley sighed. "I've been in your head, Grace." I couldn't understand why that didn't seem to please him until he continued "but I also saw your memories" he sighed, running a hand over his face, his eyes met mine and I could see the pain floating around in them "I saw how he was with you when you needed him. When you needed me. When I was too wounded to be a man and step up. When I couldn't be there for you. Lucifer was, and I know how he made you feel. "

"Crowley, my heart is in turmoil. The love I feel for both you and Lucifer is tearing me apart. I....I  need time to sort out my emotions. Can you give me that?" I asked him, He nodded. But I could tell it wasn't what he wanted to hear.

"But right now, I need to focus on Lily and make sure she's ok," I added.

"Grace, I get it," he empathised. "Sorting out your feelings is a process. I'll give you the time you need. Taking care of Lily is a priority. I'll be here for both of you."

"I'm sorry, Crowley," I told him, taking his hand. "I know you were hoping for a little more clarity on where you stand. But I can't think about us or anything else right now. Lily is my priority and always will be. That's a dynamic you're going to have to get used to if you want any part in my life. I need to prioritise Lily's safety right now. We can talk about this later when things calm down, I promise, "

"I can't deny that it hurts, Grace," he sighed, squeezing my hand as he looked down at our entwined fingers. "But if taking care of Lily is what you need right now, I'll respect that." He pulled out of reach and headed for the door.

"Crowley," I called as he opened the door to leave, causing him to glance back at me. "I really do appreciate what you did for me,"

He only winked and left the room.

********Lucifer's POV**********

I carried Lily into her bedroom at the bunker, her small body covered in soot from the fire. My heart ached at the sight, but I couldn't let my emotions show. She was safe now, and that's all that mattered.

"Dad," she coughed

"Shhhh baby," I whispered. "You need to rest and heal."

"Don't leave me," she croaked, her hands clutching at my arms as I sat on the bed beside her.

"I'm not going anywhere, darling," I promised, stroking her hair from her face. "I'm so sorry that this happened to you."

"It's not your fault," she replied. "I don't blame you."

No, but I blamed myself.

"Hush now," I told her, "get some sleep."

"You'll stay?" She asked. It tore me apart, seeing how scared she was to be left alone. I desperately wanted to ask who had taken her, what they'd done to her. But that could wait. Right now, she just needed me to be her dad and stay with her, make her feel safe. But I wasn't sure how after the way I had failed to protect her.

I sat on the edge of her bed until she fell asleep. After a while, I moved to the corridor outside her room to call Grace. I was dreading this conversation, I wasn't sure how much Grace knew or what she was feeling.

I dialled her number, and she picked up almost instantly.

"Lucifer," she greeted, her voice frantic and filled with concern. "Are you with Lily? Is she ok?"

"she's fine," I reassured her, "she's sleeping. She's a fighter, just like her mom. "

"Thank god for that," Grace sighed, relieved, "but she shouldn't have to be a fighter." she sighed. "She's barely a month old and has already been through so much"

"I know." I sighed "Gracie I'm so sorry."

"Lucifer, I need to know what happened," Grace interrupted. "But right now, just knowing Lily is safe is enough. That conversation can wait until the dust has settled"

"Thank you," I replied, letting out a breath I didn't know I was holding. "Gracie, I'm just relieved that Lily is safe, I'll see you soon, ok?"

"I'll see you soon," she replied, I slumped to the floor outside Lily's room. Relief flooded through me that she was safe and that Grace didn't hate me.....yet.
