Business as usual

It had become a regular thing over the last few months. Crowley spending the evenings with us and staying until breakfast.

Him and Lily got on so well, a lot of the time I felt like the third wheel. But I loved that they enjoyed each others company. It made life a lot easier.

That morning was no different. I was making bacon when Crowley came up behind me and began kissing my neck, his arms snaking around my waist. I tilted my head into him and purred.

"Really!" Lily exclaimed "In the kitchen!" she groaned "Please don't get sex in my bacon" this made us both laugh and Crowley reluctantly moved away, making us all mugs of tea before taking his seat next to Lily at the table as they both watched me finish cooking.

"Crowley do you want any?" I asked him, meal times were always strange, sometimes he would eat to feel like he was sharing something with us. Most of the time he didn't bother because he had no need for it.

"I'm ok love" he replied "Just make for you and Lily today" I nodded and plated up our bacon sandwiches, sitting opposite them at the table.

"What do you have planned today?" I asked Crowley,

"I have a rogue crossroads demon to discipline" he groaned "I'm surrounded by morons"

"Hey!" Lily exclaimed, offended.

"Not you darling" he chuckled, and she bumped her shoulder against his in response. These small exchanges between them made me warm and fuzzy inside.

"Lily?" I asked "Any plans today?"

"Erm..." she started "I was going to see Dad"

"Ok" I replied, I knew Lily was speaking to Lucifer. I'd allowed them to see each other with Charlie as a chaperone so that I didn't have to have any contact with him. He was helping her to control her powers. As much as I couldn't forgive him for what he's done. I couldn't deny that Lily meant the world to him and so far he had done nothing but try to be a good Dad. "Is Charlie going with you?" I asked

"I haven't asked her" Lily replied, sheepishly, nervous for my reaction,

"Lily you know I don't mind you seeing him as long as you aren't alone" I sighed

"I know Mom but I just want some father daughter time without Charlie waffling on about computer programmes because she feels awkward" Lily groaned, "and he's teaching me to fly, Charlie can't exactly join in"

I was about to protest when Crowley interrupted.

"Come on love" he reasoned with me "He's proven himself on the last few visits, I think you should trust Lily's judgement and give them the time alone they want" I wasn't sure it was Crowley's place to interject. But I knew I must be being unreasonable if he was defending Lucifer.

"Fine" I sighed "But Lily if he makes you feel even the smallest bit uncomfortable..."

"I'll leave" she jumped in "You're really ok with this?"

"I trust you" I told her, she squealed and rushed round the table to hug me "I best finish getting ready"

"Thank you" she whispered, kissing Crowley's cheek, making him chuckle as took her breakfast into her room to get ready.

"What was that?" I asked him, raising my eyebrow.

"Grace if you push back on them spending time alone together, you're just giving them reason to do it anyway and not tell you" he explained

"You're right" I sighed "Thank you for being my voice of reason"

"Anytime love" he smirked "What are you going to do today?"

"I'm going on a hunt" I told him, taking a bite of my sandwich

"Again?" he asked

"It's kind of what I do" I giggled

"I know but so soon after the last one? Are you up to it?" he questioned

"Crowley I'm fine" I assured him "you worry too much"

"I love you Grace" he told me "Of course I worry"

"In fact I should probably get going" I told him, taking my plate to the kitchen. Not acknowledging his declaration.

"I'll see you at tea time" he told me, following me to the kitchen to steal a kiss before he left.

He had told me he loved me so many times over the last few months. But because we had agreed to keep this casual, not labels or time frames. Even though he knew I loved him. I'd not actually said it back. I knew it was starting to get to him.

I had started hunting again the last few weeks with Sam and Dean, once I was fully recovered. Although they insisted Cas carry out a full medical on me after every trip, just to be safe.

Life was getting back on track. It was business as usual. But as ever, that was only an illusion.

We got comfortable, complacent.

I was supposed to be a simple case. But when we went to burn the bones, something didn't feel right.

"Does anyone else feel like we're being watched?" Sam asked.

"I didn't want to say anything" Dean replied,

"Let's get out of here" I told them. Before we had chance there was a rustling in the trees around us and we were ambushed by a group of people who seemed possessed. They were foaming at the mouth and their eyes were red and blood shot. Like rabid dogs.

"Run!" Sam yelled, we all ran but there was too many of them. One by one they took us down. We struggled to hold them off us as they pinned us the floor. Just as I was losing all strength, there was a high pitched whistle and they all rolled off us screeching, they writhed on the floor until they weren't moving anymore, blood running from their eyes and nose. Followed by the sound of high heels and a short feminine figure emerging from the trees. Dean was about to reach for his gun when she uttered an incantation and Sam and Dean froze in where they lay.

"Hello Deary" the woman spoke to me, she was short and petite with fiery red hair and pointed features. Her accent I recognised as Scottish. Mysteriously beautiful and radiated power. I'd never met a witch. Until now.
