Truth

The three of us sat at the table, finishing our food in silence.

"Ok this silence is deafening" Crowley groaned "Will the two of you talk this out"

"I don't know where to start" I sighed "Lily why didn't you tell me you were talking to him?"

"I thought you would be mad" she confessed "you've barely said his name since we moved here"

"I wouldn't have liked it" I agreed "But Lily I don't want us to have secrets"

"Are you joking" she exclaimed "you've been keeping so much from me"

"That's not the same as having secrets" I told her

"It's exactly the same" she snapped

"What exactly has he told you?" I asked her

"The truth" she replied "He told me everything, he didn't keep anything from me"

"I didn't want you to know what he could be like" I sighed "what he was capable of"

"You think we didn't talk about his past whilst you were in hospital?" she groaned "I know who he is Mom! I probably know him better than you and I love every part of him. No just the parts that are easier to love"

"Lily he massacred innocent people" I snapped

"He lost control" she defended "Just like I did"

"You killed one person by accident whilst you were protecting your friends" I exclaimed "It's not the same"

"You have to understand that he was there for me when you weren't" she sighed, I tried to interrupt but she continued "I know you didn't have a choice, you nearly died. But regardless of the reason, he was the one who was there for me when everything was new and scary because you asked him to be"

I didn't know how to respond to that. She was right.

"I'm sorry" I whispered after a long silence "I was just trying to protect you, I didn't think about the bigger picture"

"Mom you don't need to protect me" she told me "Especially not from my father"

"But I'm your Mom" I sighed "I'm always going to want to protect you"

"Well sometimes it's just too much" she told me.

We suddenly both became very aware that Crowley was still sat at the table. He was practically frozen in his seat.

"Remind me why I had to stay for this" he chuckled

"Sorry" Lily laughed "This isn't how I imagined your thank you dinner going"

"Darling" he chuckled "This is a normal night by your mothers standards"

I rolled my eyes as Lily laughed.

"Can we acknowledge the resolution of this conversation though" Crowley added, turning serious again.

"I won't keep things from Mom" Lily stated

"I won't be so over protective" I promised.

"Now let's finish the wine" Crowley chuckled, standing to refill our glasses. It wasn't lost on me how comfortable he was hosting in our home.

"We're supposed to be waiting on you" Lily scolded him,

"It's just wine Lily" he chuckled

"Thank you for coming tonight" I told him as he refilled my glass.

"Actually I'm ok" Lily told him as he went to pour in her glass, he raised an eyebrow at her.
"Thank you for coming to dinner Crowley" she told him "and thank you for saving me. But whilst we're speaking our truths, I think I should leave the two of you to talk" and he disappeared off to her soon. Catching my eye and grinning at me as she did. Leaving me and Crowley alone with half a bottle of wine.

"She's so much like you" he chuckled.

"You think?" I asked smiling

"Fiery, head strong, fancies herself as a comedian" he teased

"Have you had chance to think about how you're feeling?" He asked

The truth was, I'd barely thought about anything else. Being alone in bed at night in this apartment had given me the space the collect my thoughts and really consider what I wanted.

"The way I feel about you has never changed Crowley" I sighed "Other things just got in the way"

"And now?" he asked "Where's your head at?"

"I don't know" I sighed "I know that's not what you want to hear, and it's not fair of me to expect you to wait around for me to figure things out, but you wanted my truth and this is it" I continued "I don't know what I want right now, whether I'm ready to get into a relationship again,  or whether I'm better off on my own for now. But what I am sure about is that I really enjoyed your company this evening and watching you and Lily get on makes me so happy. Even with Lucifer barging in halfway through, you make me feel safe and at ease and I don't want to lose that feeling, I don't want this evening to end"

"It doesn't have to end" he smiled, reaching across the table and taking my hand "No yet at least" As soon as my hand slid into his and our skin made contact, warmth spread from the tips of my fingers to the tips of my toes, making me take a breath. "Let's not put pressure on anything" he told me "we don't need a title or a timeline" he reassured me "just two people who love each other, taking one day at a time"

"That's ok with you?" I asked, liking the sound of a casual relationship.

"Grace I just want you" he smiled, standing and moving round to crouch beside my chair "whatever that looks like" he reached up and stroked my cheek, his eyes flicking from mine to my lips and back again. I ran my tongue along my bottom lip and he didn't miss a beat. His lips were on mine in an instant. We clung to each other and kissed like we'd never kissed before, like we never would again. I'd missed him. My body had missed him, and it didn't hide that fact as stumbled to my bedroom. We fell onto my bed giggling like teenagers.

"This is not how I expected tonight to go" I giggled

"No but you wanted it to end this way" he smirked, I was about to protest but he raised and eyebrow and interrupted "Grace, only truths remember"

"there's no denying what my intentions were tonight once you see the lingerie I'm wearing" I blushed.

Crowley only growled in response as he tore at my clothes.
