I was at the airport waiting for Gregor and Bojan to arrive with their flight. I had volunteered to pick them up with our little-not-so-little Joker Out van, since i really wanted to see Bojan as soon as possible, and most of the people from our crew were too busy with something else. The rest of the band was still asleep at home in the apartment. At least when i left them.
I'd woken up in Kris' arms because the sun shined into my eyes. Kris was still asleep when i left to the airport. I think Jan, Nace and Jure were as well because i didn't see them when leaving the apartment, but heard them when they got home. One of them knocked over a vase which resulted in some rather chaotic cleaning. Jure had most certainly gotten more to drink when Kris and I left the bar. I kept hearing him falling over and laughing his ass off.
I was wearing my noise cancelling headphones since the airport was always such a busy, stressful, loud place, with my fidget cube in hand. Their plane landed about 20 minutes ago so they should be on their way by now.
I saw a bunch of people walking through the glass doors that let them exit. Some of them reunited with families or friends, while most just continued walking to the exit of the airport.
I eagerly tried to find Bojan through the moving crowd but he didn't seem to be anywhere. A tall curly haired man with grey hair did however catch my eye.
"Gregor!" I shouted and waved at him. His head shot in the direction of my voice and after seeing me he approached my with a smile, his luggage rolling along his side. I placed the headphone to my left ear behind my ear, so i could hear him incase he started talking, - which everyone always did when greeting someone - whether it was just a "Hi, how are you?" or an actual conversation starter.
"Linn, i thought Mark was gonna pick us up?" He asked while hugging me in one of those "i'm only doing this because it's polite and not because i've missed you" hug.
"Something came up and i had time so now i'm doing it. Besides i wanted to. Missed you guys, y'know." I smiled at him.
"That's nice, we missed your little smile too." He said and placed his hand on my shoulder.
"Um, where's Bojan? I thought he was gonna come too." I asked my manager and tried to peak through the doors Bojan should've walked through by now.
Had Bojan missed the flight? It would certainly not be the first time. Maybe he'd gotten sick again or felt too exhausted for another tour? Bojan wasn't one to just ditch us, especially not on tour. Even though he liked to mess around he was quite responsable and wouldn't just disappear without giving the band a notice.
"He's coming, don't worry. Something about his passport or luggage or something"
"His passport?" I questioned. If it had something to do with his passport things could get messy real quick.
"Yeah or something in that manner, i actually think it was something he forgot on the plane. Don't worry, he'll be here shortly." Gregor tried to give me a comforting smile but it didn't have any succes.
I hated airports so much. They were a pure sensory nightmare. Babies crying everywhere, people eating and talking and yelling from every corner of every room. Alarms would always go off, hurting my ears because of the sharp noise - sometimes even making me dizzy - and people would run around at all time of the day. The language barriers were insufferable because my anxiety made me unable to translate anything in any way. The rush and stress of the whole check-in and security check. Also the plane itself was loud as fuck and limiting and babies would always cry and toddlers would yell and scream. Headphones could only help to a certain point, they couldn't cure the problem.
