A BRANCH SNAPS. HE whirls around, trees and fallen leaves blocking his sight to whatever broke a twig. He cautiously looks around every which way, thinking that it wasn't a walker. If it was a walker, he'd hear the faint growls, and the walker wouldn't be hiding. If it was an animal, it would have ran away by now, and he would have heard that. This had to be a living, breathing human.

Scout thought otherwise than to shout "who's there," and any of that other nonsense that gets everybody killed in horror movies. Clearly, this person didn't want him to see them. They wanted to watch him first. For what reason, he didn't know. They were the ones coming after him, not the other way around.

He squinted at each and every tree, zoning in on one in particular that looked extra strange. A triumphant smirk crossed his features when he caught the tail end of a shoe peeking out from the tree.

Thinking that the best decision wasn't to walk towards whoever this was, in case they were to put a blade to his neck as soon as he reached them, he decided to call out to them. "I can see you."

The figure didn't budge, but neither did Scout. He reached into the sling hanging next to his hip where his gun sat.

"Come on, what do you want?" he tried after a long period of silence. When they didn't respond, as expected, he said, "If you're wanting to steal some of my food, I'm not the best victim. I have maybe a can of tangerines left." Still nothing.

Scout huffed, spinning around on his feet. He began walking in the same direction as before, occasionally throwing a glance over his shoulder to make sure whoever this was wasn't trying anything funny.

Honestly, just knowing someone else was out there pulled a weight off his shoulders. He wouldn't mind having a stalker. As long as they didn't try to kill him.

CONTROLLED FIRES LITTERED THE streets. It wasn't exactly what a road lined with stores would look like Before, but you still could tell it wasn't abandoned. Like you know people walked those sidewalks during the day.

Glancing back at the two men behind him, only for them to give him a suspicious look, Scout rolled his eyes and tucked his hands in his pockets.
