22- cold reality

Winter was excited, today he was going to finally meet his biological father, mother and even siblings. Queen Glacier had given Winter and his siblings a place to rest the previous night, Winter was amazed to learn that the palace couldn't melt due to an animus spell, so Peril could enter and walk around the palace. Winter had always been fascinated by animus magic, Red would always go on small trips and return with scrolls, he always made sure to get certain scroll, Winter especially loved the animus magic scrolls besides one called the Darkstalker, this story scared Winter, although Red always assured him that it was just a story and that the Darkstalker would never harm him.

Winter walked into the throne room, Queen Glacier told Winter to join her there because she had called Winter's family, although she told Winter to be prepared and try to look strong and brave, Winter was confused by this but he would try his best.

As Winter waited with Glacier suddenly four icewings walked in, two who were clearly Winter's parents and the other two must have been his siblings. The Icewing Winter assumed was his father then said "Queen Glacier, what is it that you called us here for?" Queen Glacier then said "Narwhal, Tundra, your lost dragonet had been found, here he is." The two dragons who were Winter's parents looked at Winter, Winter expected looks of joy and excitement in their eyes but they looked at him coldly and Narwhal scoffed, and said "I doubt he'll be any use he looks weak." Tundra nodded and said "Queen Glacier, if that's all you needed us for may we leave?" Glacier nodded as she glanced at Winter slightly.

Tundra and Narwhal left, Winter felt betrayed, weren't parents supposed to love their Dragonets. Suddenly the other two Icewings approached Winter, the older one grabbed Winter and began to examine him, he then said "What's your name?" Winter then said "I'm Winter." The Dragon suddenly hugged Winter, his hug was nice, the dragon seemed to be crying slightly as he then said "It's great to see you're ok, I'm sorry I failed to protect you."

Winter was confused but hugged back and said "Don't worry, I was safe." The Dragon then pulled back and said "Good, my name is Hailstorm, I'm your older brother, this is Icicle, our sister." Winter could see the genuine  joy in Hailstorm's eyes, Icicle then said "I can't believe you're really out brother, I was always told you were taken by a Skywing, but clearly he must have lost you if you're still alive."

Winter then said "Um... actually, I was raised by that Skywing, with my adopted siblings." Both Hailstorm and Icicle were silent but Hailstorm quickly said "Oh... I didn't know, it's good to know that you at least had a family and you turned out better then most Icewings I know from how happy you look." Winter smiled slightly and said "Thank you, maybe you can meet my other siblings, I'm sure they would like both of you."

Icicle shook her head and said "Sorry but I wouldn't hold my temper around any Skywings." Winter nodded and said "Ok, well hopefully you'll be able to meet them one day." Hailstorm then said "I would be honored to meet the dragons who you considered your siblings, may I go meet them Queen Glacier?" Glacier nodded and soon Winter was taking Hailstorm to meet his siblings.
