Mila
When I wake up I feel something pressed against my lower back, my eyebrows twist in confusion before remembering what happened last night.
I slept in Gio's room.
And I feel like someone needs to use the bathroom, I try to move before realizing his arms are tightly around me.
I try to carefully pry out of his arms causing him to stir and hold me even tighter. "Gio, I have to make my kids breakfast," I whisper to which he grips me tighter, I turn around in his arms to face him. "And I'm sure you need to use the bathroom?"
One eye pops open as he raises a brow. I tilt my head in a way that's saying, I can feel your morning wood pressed against my ass. "Your morning wood is pressing against me." I just spit out not caring.
He looks down before looking back at me. "I don't think that's morning wood, sweetheart."
"Gross." I laugh as I pry myself out of his arms and leave the room, freshening up in the bathroom and changing I make my way downstairs to see the kids already down there eating their breakfast, my brows crease.
"I thought I'd save you the trouble," Luca says as he walks around me with a plate of food in his hand and hands it to me, I smile in thanks before sitting down next to the kids.
"Where's Gio?" He asks and I shrug.
"I think he's getting ready, he has a problem he needs to take care of," I say stuffing food into my mouth to hide the cheeky smile.
"Uh huh.." Luca says, chuckling to himself.
Gio finally makes his way downstairs and finds the seat next to me. "Look who decided to come down?" Luca jokes.
"Don't you have somewhere else to be?" Gio asks Luca with a raised brow.
Luca checks the time on the very expensive watch on his wrist before shrugging. "Nope!" He says as he takes a bite of his bacon.
Gio rolls his eyes and begins eating.
"Cade, no electronics at the table," I say as I grab the iPad from him he sighs and eats his food.
"Why did you get him this thing? It's not good for his brain!" I scold Gio who just shrugs.
"I thought that's what kids like these days."
"It is! That's the problem." I say as I continue eating my food.
"What else?"
"Huh?" I look over at him.
"What else isn't good for them?"
The question catches me off guard before I tell him all my knowledge of kids, it takes a while and by the time I'm finished, the kids are in the living room playing.
"Oh god, don't tell me you got her pregnant already," Luca says.
"What?! Gross Luca." He laughs at me as he takes the plates and walks away.
"Am I gross to you Mila?" Gio says against my ear as his hand rests on my higher thigh.
I turn to face him, feeling flustered. "You need to stop doing that," I say.
"Doing what?" He tilts his head and I roll my eyes.
"That! This." I say as I peel his hand off of my thigh missing the feel of it immediately after.
This is fake, we're getting married but it isn't real, the feelings aren't real, and the only thing tying me to him is a piece of paper.
"You forget you kissed me last night." He says his accent thick as it sends a shiver down my spine.
I sigh. "It was a mistake." A lie. "This isn't real, so I shouldn't have done it." Another lie, my feelings were 100% real, I wanted him and I would just end up getting hurt if I kept allowing myself to want him.
As much as I hate it, he has Lia, he'll be fine.
"Oh." He says he has a look on his face before he goes completely dark again. "We have to sign contracts in an hour, get ready." He says as he gets up.
I roll my eyes. "Why do you not tell me things!" I groan as I put my plate away and go upstairs to get changed into outside clothes.
-
"So, is this the marriage certificate?" I ask.
"No." The man says, "Just a contract saying you both agree to what you're doing." the man says his thick Italian accent low as he speaks. "Especially you." He says to me.
"Oh," I say looking up at Gio. "So I'm signing myself away to you?" I say and he shrugs.
"You knew what the deal was."
Ouch.
He was being cold.
I sigh and sign the papers.
"Can we get out of here now, this sweater is starting to choke me." I pull at the turtleneck.
We leave the building and walk over to Gios's car, he opens the door for me without saying a word before hopping in on his side.
He begins driving, and when we get on the freeway he begins speeding causing my heart to pick up. "That's not funny Gio," I say as he changes lanes to pass the other cars as I look over at him he looks completely neutral as he speeds down the roads. "Are you crazy?" I shout as he picks up his speed. 90... 110...120.
"Yes," he says. "Relax this is nothing."
"Slow down! This isn't funny!" My heart rate picks up as he zooms past cars. "Giovanni!" I shout angrily.
It's only when I start hyperventilating he slows down the car, I stare at him with tears pooling my eyes. "Are you crazy! You could've killed us or anyone else on the road!" I shout as he takes an exit.
He looks genuinely concerned as he looks at him. "Mila, I'm s-"
"Keep your eyes on the road! Please!" I wipe under my eyes.
He reaches for my hand before I pull away and keep my gaze out the window.
"I didn't mean to scare you." He says as he drives into the gates of his huge home, I don't say anything as the car comes to a stop. "Mila."
"Well, you did," I say as I unclasp my seatbelt.
"I'm sorry." He says genuinely.
After a while, I sigh. "Just don't do it again."
He nods and lets me out of the car and into the home.
